Artic Hotel - The hotel itself was well-perched with a view over the Icebergs during this Midnight Sun season. The food at the hotel also exceeded our expectations. The restaurant at the second floor had amazing fish and burgers! However, the hotel was a bit complicated to navigate initially, but we did ***age to get used to it over our 4 day stay. We also walked to the metal Igloos which was also sight to behold. A very nice viewing area for the Icebergs. However, we would recommend having more staff around at night as we were felt uncomfortable while drinking and admiring the midnight sun among our friends, but was constantly getting disturbed by drunk locals while there was no hotel staff nor security around at that time. Also a suggestion for extended hours for the shuttle bus, as most tours during the Summer season to watch the Midnight Sun starts way after the last shuttle bus into the city which is atleast 30mins walk.

Stayed for 4 nights - very easy going, friendly hotel. The rooms heat up very quickly which was welcome. Breakfast was simple and plentiful. The staff were super helpful. My guess is it’s a 3* rating so better value to the 4* Arctic Hotel next door which we used for some evening meals and taxis etc.

The rooms are somewhat dated but the views are excellent from the top floor. The restaurant has an excellent Greenlandic Buffet, highly recommended. My room-mate and I had to share one bathtowl for 4 days. We asked for more but we didn’t get them. It was somewhat hysterically funny. ”Would you like to use the towel now or can I?” We had a nice stay but the hotel needs some renovating.

We did book in February by ********** for two times two nights end of June. The night in between we did stay at the Eqi Lodge. We did get some major issues with this hotel, but I do not know who to blame; the hotel or **********. First we did charge 310 DDK (~ 44 euro) more as booked by ********** Because it is not possible to complain by ********** except by telephone (only an option when you like to wait forever) I do not know who to blame. But if you want to book this hotel, pay in advance. We were not picked up by the airport. We did need to arrange (and pay) a taxi ourselves. According the hotel there was a miscommunication with **********. Minor point: They called them self a hotel, but rooms were not cleaned during the weekend. We did get clean towels after asking for it. The hotel does not have a 24 hours reception. For the good points: Good breakfast at their restaurant at the other side of the street. Very complete (!) room with a kitchen including magnetron, refrigerator, plates, pans etc. Clean, nice rooms with a good bed, a table and two chairs. Good shower. Good wifi. Free café, thee and coco. (The second time there was not much café.) They arranged a way to check-in after office time (close at 6PM) at 7PM coming back from our trip from Eqi Lodge. The location of the hotel is in the center of town, close to 3 supermarkets, several restaurants (mostly closed) and several tour operators. Given the remoteness of Ilulissat, climate challenges and an impossible supply chain, I was expecting to find a somewhat rustic hotel which would probably keep us warm most nights...this Best Western was anything but that. Our 5 days there were exceptional. The breakfasts were fresher than fresh and more elegant than 5-star hotels I've stayed at in Paris, Zurich and Venice. The rooms and public spaces were kept very clean, it has a great location, and friendly staff. A big plus is the travel agent desk set up right next to the hotel front desk. This company is owned and operated by locals and they can get you hooked into all the sights worth seeing and doing.
