Barceló Illetas Albatros - Adults Only

We have just spent 1 night at this stunning hotel celebrating my wife's birthday. It is an absolute gem. The reception team did everything possible to make my wife's birthday very special and memorable. We booked a partial sea view and was offered the closest room to the sea front to make the most of our room package. The room was spotless and had everything you needed to be very comfortable but after seeing the stunning sea views on offer, we decided to upgrade to a full sea view and it was so worth the extra. Room 402 had a huge comfy bed with the best pillows ever! The bathroom is part of the bedroom with frosted glass doors to the large shower and toilet. I want to point out, the doors are glass but not see through! We didnt feel like our privacy was compromised at all. A coffee machine, with as many pods as you like, was a nice addition. Theres a mini fridge full of drinks but we made space in it for our own water and beer. The room also had some other nice touches, just in case you'd forgotten something! ... Bathrobe and slippers, toothpaste and toothbrush, sewing kit, shoe shine, tissues, hair comb, razor and ear buds! The sun shines on the sea view balcony pretty much morning til evening. If you can stretch your budget, a sea view room really does have a jaw dropping view. We actually left our curtains open at bedtime to make sure we didn't miss the sunrise. We used the pool area for an hour which was very clean but because our visit was during November we didn't get in the pools. Towels are available from the daytime restaurant. We visited the spa for an hour too and enjoyed the hot tub, steam room and sauna. Now to the restaurant..... We had such a great dining experience both evening and breakfast. In the evening, we were greeted by a very friendly member of the team with a miniature jug of sangria. Another nice touch! Seated by the window. The hotel had kindly put a bottle of bubbly and a birthday muffin in our room for my wife. We took the bubbly to the restaurant and enjoyed it with our meal. A Free bottle of water was also brought automatically to our table. We thoroughly enjoyed 6 mini courses of tasty food. Started with a very fresh salad, secondly blue cheese pizza, third course of majorcan soup (chicken with potatoes) then we enjoyed the fresh show cooking of pork kebabs (freshly cooked fish and chicken was also available) followed by course 5 of roast pork (melted in our mouths) with delicious roast potatoes and green vegetables and finished with a trio of ice creams and a chocolate brownie. There was so much more to chose from but we simply couldn't fit it all in. All of the food was beautifully presented and so tasty. Breakfast was just as good.. We tucked into most things in small quantities but the highlights for us were fresh fruit smoothies, an orange press to make your very own fresh orange juice, fresh honeycomb, made to order egg omelettes and pancakes, cava, all varieties of cereals with nuts and dried fruit, fresh

Enjoyed a relaxing 3 days at this lovely hotel. I loved the quiet atmosphere (free from noisy children). The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel swimming pool is delightful and there is an ample supply of sunbeds. I particularly liked the fact that the hotel stops guests leaving their towels on the beds to stop others using them when they are not there. The pool was large and a very pleasant temperature. Nice to look out to sea as well watching all the yachts passing by. The Blue Cafe is just above the pool so it was easy to order pool side drinks/cocktails. We also had dinner here one evening watching the sun go down. The menu offered a good selection but I wanted something plain and we had the best beefburger and chips ever. Breakfast at the hotel is also superb. A wide selection with the nice touch of cava to go with fresh orange juice. The cooked breakfast was very good and there was also an option to have eggs freshly cooked. The hotel, I feel, is at the best end of Illetas as it is close to the little bars and restaurants, although most of them are very basic. We had one exceptional meal though at Arrels in the Hotel de Mar Gran Melia, where we had the degustacion menu - simply superb but pricey. The other restaurant there set in the gardens also looked romantic and inviting, particularly when it was it at night. Our room was comfortable with two easy chairs to sit in and a huge bed (two singles joined together). Nice sized terrace/balcony as well. Bathroom was in 3 parts. Separate toilet, separate rain shower and a washhand basin the room. Ample wardrobe space.

A lovely hotel which we come back to every year! The location is fantastic! Clean rooms, great staff and lovely pool area and the rock is just great to have a suntan!

5 day break with friends, hotel in a tranquil location, on the bus route for Palma only €2 euros. Hotel staff friendly, hotel very clean throughout and room spacious. Pool and wellness space are nice. Not too much in the vicinity other than a couple of bistros so if you want more bars/restaurants you can get the bus or walk to others nearby, no bar open in the evening at the hotel during our visit

Great view, we saw dolphins from the teracce during breakfast… the best breakfast- prosecco, fresh juice all incl., modern and very clean room…. Great place to relax

Try to select a high floor with sea view as the vista is stunning. Located in a quiet area with good transport links to Palma.

Our initial greeting set the scene for our stay at Barcelona Illetas Albatross. All staff without fail smiled and greeted us making it clear they took pride in the service they provided. It was good to see more senior staff “walking the floor” and helping care for clients.

The hotel is in a good position for getting out and about. We hired a car and parked it in the free car park about a 2 minute walk from the hotel. It was perfectly safe there. We have stayed with Barcelò in other places and are fans of the loyalty programme but this hotel didn’t quite meet expectations, I think we have been spoilt by previous stays elsewhere. Contacting the hotel before our arrival with questions went unanswered, I tried 2 different email addresses and 2 phone numbers. No one replied to my emails not answered the phone. On arrival at the hotel, we were not offered a welcome drink as other guests have, despite us being in the higher level loyalty category. The room was spacious and clean, we were in a superior side sea view, although we couldn’t see much of the sea due to a very large (and beautiful!) tree obscuring the view. The bed is huge but mattress very firm and pillows not the best quality. I had 2 uncomfortable nights sleep. The third night was better thanks to some sangria! We also didn’t use the balcony at all as we were overlooked and had clear view in to next doors bedroom. There was a lot of noise from building work nearby and other guests banging doors in the hallways. The hotel itself is fine for a base. We were half board but only had dinner one night as it didn’t look great, a lot of the dishes were not labelled (or incorrectly labelled) and the temperature of the food was a bit concerning. Breakfast was good, we had fresh omlettes each day. The spa/wellness centre was highly disappointing, the stairs mentioned in previous reviews have been fixed but the handrail in and out of the very tiny 3 person, salt water jacuzzi was still wobbly. The steam room smelt unpleasant and mouldy so we didn’t use this, the sauna was also very small and wasn’t the most relaxing experience. Staff were all helpful and friendly, always someone on reception and lots of housekeeping staff around. Overall, the hotel suited our needs for a base to sleep whilst we explored the island. If we were to return, it would only be for a couple of nights on a bed and breakfast basis only.

Location was ideal to get into Palma, Hotel staff very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Rooms are ok booked room with seaview view was perfect, a couple of issues with the room. Set up of the toilet and wash basin. Wash basin open plan, glass doors on the toilet and shower although frosted glass not very private. No drawers or shelves in the room so small clothing had to be left in our cases, not ideal. Pool area is very clean and well set out Breakfast is fresh, and plentiful only had lunch once that was excellent as well..Not alot to do of an evening, however we were just out of season. All in all i would stay again, however the rooms could be improved.
