A return visit to this hotel, this time on a full board basis, with access to the spa included. Firstly, the standards at the hotel remain just as good as on my first visit two years ago - the hotel is spotless, well maintained and customer service standards are excellent - the hotel director was visible every evening in the restaurant. The service team in the restaurant are great - friendly, welcoming and engaging. Jorge at reception was lovely too - always smiling and friendly. We requested and were allocated the same room as last time - it all just looks brand new still, so clearly at the end of season or when necessary, the rooms are repainted and refreshed. The bed is very comfortable, there's a pillow menu, and I slept brilliantly all week. There are new toiletries in the shower and at the sink which smell beautiful, a nice new addition. I never had an issue getting a sun bed, and as others have mentioned, the life guard ran to help with umbrellas and was very sociable. Just one big issue this stay, and it was the food. I was only B&B last time, this trip I was half board. The variety of food available in the evenings wasn't great, and we ended up going out for dinner on two evenings. Odd things were available - hash browns for dinner three times? Duck breasts and turkey steaks put out three nights in a row as well, which worried me that potentially the same duck and turkey was put out three consecutive nights as it hadn't been used up. I tried the turkey the first night it was offered and it was fatty, with a bone in it, so clearly not a great cut of meat. It felt like as the hotel was closing for the season in three week's time, that they were emptying the freezers and putting out whatever needed be used up. The food was never that warm either unfortunately, at dinner or at breakfast, although the choice of food available at breakfast was more extensive than in the evening. A point to note, anyone with a nut allergy should be careful as nothing was labelled as containing nuts, and they were all over the charcuterie section and in some desserts. One piece of advice, as mentioned by another traveller too - as the hotel is alongside a river, pack some mosquito repellent. I don't usually get bitten, but was seven times during that week. Overall I had another great stay at the hotel, and will return again, but only on a B&B basis as the variety, frequency of repeat & temperature of the food particularly at dinner was disappointing.
