Perfectly located for the Bodensee (Lake Constance), and well away from traffic and busy roads. You'll sleep like a baby in utter solace! My first impression on arrival is that it resembled a former school and I was dead right - it was indeed a Girls' school until 2018. There was quite a bit of 'work in progress' what with building works etc. Not met on arrival (reception had closed), just an envelope with a key so not really sure why the check-in hours were so specific. Limited bar available (honesty system). Candidly, I did not realise that our room had a shared bathroom but as they were so close and clean it was an easy compromise. Curiously, no meat is served at breakfast time (in marked contrast to the rest of Germany). A very large array of vegetarian options existed in its place - which was left virtually untouched by guests during our breakfast. I suspect the Owners/Mgt are trying a little social engineering here with imposing their own beliefs. Setting is idyllic and the castle being from 1700 is very imposing. Rooms spacious and very clean. Grass in Gardens was overdue a cut (see photos) but the approach and setting were just stunning. I would return, but albeit with some salami, leberwurst and schwarzwalder schinken in a portable cooler!
