This review could become a book, so I'll keep it short. First, if you haven't visited South Africa and seen the BIG FIVE (up-front and personally), this is the place to go. From top-shelf hospitality, to gourmet dinners, to game drives that begin and end your day, you will have a fun-packed time at Kapama River Lodge. The grounds of the lodge are expansive, with a Boma (used during the colder months), spa, workout facility, and more. The common area, located with the luxury suites, is to die for - complete with a bar, pool, plenty of comfortable seating around roaring fireplaces, this is like a dream. Dining at the Xitsumbeni restaurant is an experience you don’t want to miss. With a smash-up of modern and lodge ambience, the restaurant is brimming with excitement when you enter. 5stars for everything! We´ve had the garden room wich is very spacious and beautiful. There´s an outdoor shower wich I loved to use in the morning. The Location is fantastic. When you enter the park you already see lots of animals and the animals also walk in the garden right outside the room. When we where swimming, A monkey jumped in the tree right next to the pool. The staff is amazing! From the minute you arrive they make you feel welcome and relaxed. Everybody is realy friendly and kind. BIG THANK YOU to the hosts Patricia and Petunia for taking such good care off us! We booked all of our game drives with Unembeza and they where the best! We did the moringdrive from 5 till 9 at the local reserve wich was awesome to see so many animals and a beautifull sunrise. We did an evening ride and picknick right next to the boutique where the guide had a lot of knowledge about the animals, trees, fruits and a lot more wich he was glad to share. Then we booked a full day at kruger from 5 till 5 where we had the BEST driver! EMANUELN gave us one of the best days of our lives! Because of him we drove next to a walking lion (2meters) had an elephant walk right at our car after bathing in the mud, saw a whole family of lions and cubs,... I know you have to be lucky to see all this in one day but it was a combination of luck and great driving/kowledge on where to be at, and when you see animals know how to respond so you make it more special. So again big thank you to Emanueln ! Glad to have booked with Unembeza!

We were 4 couples staying here for 1 night on our way further up north for a Safari. The rims were beautiful and setting peaceful and pleasant. The breakfast was delicious. The property has a bomer area with seats and a braai pit which we decided to use for diner. The staff were extremely useful in assisting us to acquire supplies for supper and cleaning up afterwards.

We were in the leadwood suite together with our kids, beautiful suite with amazing terrasse and salon with all intimacy. With a water point just in front of our terrasse, we had twice the visit of an elephant a few meters away from us. Monkeys also came to visit every day. The staff is really excellent, very thoughtful as well as our ranger Oupa and tracker Excellent. We had excellent food in large quantity (too much for me, great for the big eaters). We saw all the animals we wanted to see in our morning and afternoon drives. Definitely recommend.
