Fantastic place. Great for walkers, cyclists & anyone that wants to discover the area.

YHA Hartington Hall has a great range of accommodation, double rooms with en-suite too. Glamping tents and Pods are also in the grounds. Besides a brilliant place to stay, the cafe is open all day to non YHA members for excellent quality meals, beverages and cookies. From the lunch time menu we had yummy home made soup, jacket spud with huge fresh salad. Really great value. The YHA has a bar and extensive evening menu to rival any restaurant. Accommodation is very comfortable and really good value. So in summary, I highly recommend this hostel for great food and accommodation. The whole team where friendly and helpful, especially the receptionist who Jill gave us a very warm welcome with lots of local advice as to where to walk and cycle.

It's so difficult to rate YHA hostels as they are just hostels, not hotels. Saying that, there are certain aspects that should still be excellent regardless of the age of the building or the price of the room. This was our second stay at this youth hostel. The first time, we were given a room on the first floor which was terribly noisy due to people in the bedroom above and the sitting room below. This time, we had a room on the second floor which was much quieter, although the walls between the rooms were very thin. There are several sitting rooms/communal areas plus a cafe/dining room for people who don't want to cook. We had breakfast there on one morning, and the food was very good. The self-catering kitchen/diner isn't really big enough considering how many people can stay here. There are only two sinks, and it was lacking some basic equipment such as a cheese grater when we stayed. Facilities on the second floor were less than adequate. The door on one toilet was broken, leaving only one other toilet, which had a door that was difficult to close. There was also only one shower left after someone got stuck in the second shower due to a faulty lock, and had to be rescued on our last day. Overall, this is a beautiful youth hostel in a lovely area, but not very well maintained as seems to be the case with a lot of YHA hostels, sadly.

Did go as I had to cancel. No refund despite a 6 day notice of cancellation. ( apparently because of it being a promotion rate- no explanation at time of booking, just tucked away in the T&C’s) Called to ask if can be refunded as plenty of notice given. Got a ‘ computer says NO’ attitude.

Great place to have some time in the beautiful Peak District. I had single room with ensuite bathroom. Comfy bed good facilities for a ridiculously low price. Amazing building, friendly staff and the food is good for hostel accommodation. Really lovely place to stay

Brill bar. Fab facilities. Great grub. Crisp chips. Spiffing staff. Quality quilts. Michelin mattresses. Sketchy signal. Great grounds. Wet water. Aged alcohol. And if you think that’s all, you would be mistaken. It was so amazing even down to the breakfast lady who gave me an extra tomato which made my day.

Stop off for a weekend of walking in the Peak District. For the price was expecting bare minimum. Above and beyond

A perfect start to a relaxing weekend. Easy to find, good accommodation, really good communal spaces. Overall excellent, but car park muddy and sloping. Perfect location for my sunrise run on the Tissington Trail :-)

Really good location and great value. Stayed here with my friend and our respective 11 yr old daughters . Did some walking and sightseeing. Had the pizzas for our meal and the English breakfast in the morning. We shared a clean and comfortable family room although it was hot up there on the top floor. Good parking and friendly staff.
