I was visiting St. Louis, with activities near Wash U, and stayed at the Knight Center for one night. It was a suitable stay for that length. Pluses: easy access to Wash. U's campus (after all, it's on campus), which is beautiful. Excellent and warm service at check-in and check-out. A quiet, clean room, which included nice amenities (e.g., fast internet, nice toiletries, etc.). I slept well. Improvement areas: while in okay condition and clean, the rooms could use a refresh; the decor and furniture feel a little past their prime. (For example, in a relatively small guest room, a huge pine cabinet meant to hold an old-style television takes up a huge amount of space; in the area of the flat screen, this kind of bulky furniture could be removed/replaced with something that takes up far less space.) The pantries, while nice in concept, need to be more fully stocked; during my stay, the snack options were a bag of Lay's or some Lucky Charms--I would have appreciated, for example, a granola bar or a package of nuts. Hallways were a little scuffed, etc., from years of bags against the walls. The fitness center was closed; while the campus has a huge recreation center, it does cost $10/day to access. Overall, a nice, but not perfect, visit; I'd return. The rooms are solid for a solo traveler; if you were traveling with a family, or for a longer visit, their small size could prove a challenge.
