Our stay at 28 Gates included 2 of our married sons and their wives, plus our granddaughter. The house has 3 Queen/King bedrooms upstairs, which was ideal, plus a modern bathroom in between with shower and free-standing bath. There was a very large extra bathroom downstairs with shower and toilet which took the pressure off at peak times. Also included in this room was a very large washing machine and dryer, great for the traveller on the go. All fresh linen is provided. When we arrived at the guesthouse Susie had left some milk, bacon, juice, tea, coffee pods, fresh eggs, fresh cherries, mushrooms, butter and a fresh homemade loaf of bread and a tin of chocolate chip cookies. This kind gesture delivers such a welcome when you first arrive. The kitchen is well appointed for you to cook up a storm, the fridge and freezer being a good size for you to bring your own supplies. A large country table will easily accomodate 8 people comfortably or you can choose to eat alfresco on the table under the front verandah. Susie and Michael are very friendly and you only have to ask if you need something. Susie gave us the opportunity to meet some of her farmyard pets including Bert the pig and Polly the horse as well as some very friendly sheep. Michael happily gave one of my sons an impromptu lesson on the finer points of fly-fishing when the boys were down at one of the lakes trying their hand at some trout fishing. Most days if we weren’t down at the lake we were free to meander around the fully operational sheep property and also check outa couple of mini museums that contained some reminders of days past. If the weather is a bit inclement there are an array of games and books plus a good sized tv that will keep everyone entertained. All in all our holiday was outstanding and what made it even more special was that we shared the experience with our extended family.
