Big Horn Lodge

Located at the edge of town, this motel is very walkable to all local restaurants, lake, shops. Ours was a last-minute reservation, and all hotels were far, far above our budget. This was the only one of those we could choose from that had a decent, sensible rate. Room was very nice, exceptionally clean, and with a lodge-type decor - not just the usual chain bed quilt, but a mountain-style chalet designer cover. I felt very comfy and cozy there, with outdoor temps dipping to very low 30's (Fahrenheit), we stayed completely warm with NO heat on in the room at all. There is a ceiling fan, too, but we didn't use it. Didn't use wifi. What I did not like: 1. check-out time of 10 am, which is too early - and the first time I have seen such an early checkout (I've been on the road since June 2022, so that's well over 100 stays in motels all over the United States). Just not a reasonable checkout time. 2. No breakfast. This would be fine if the rate was a little less, I think about $20 off. Doesn't have to be fine dining with 3 courses - just coffee and a bagel would be nice to get a traveler on the road without a grumbly tummy. Bottom line: There are better places to stay around Grand Lake, but this one is nice and comfy in a pinch. Bring your own bagels.

I had a wonderful experiance at the Bighorn Lodge. The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. Location is excelent within walking distance of downtown shopping and restaurants and the lake.
