To put our feelings about this magical place into 200 characters is impossible…. From the minute we arrived we were treated like royalty.. Hannes and his staff are the loveliest people and made us feel so special… our room was huge with a gorgeous bathroom and terrace with its own plunge pool overlooking the lake… the food was absolutely incredible and non stop! Cleo, our ranger is like the African Crocodile Dundee! His knowledge and ability to spot things miles into the distance meant we saw the big 5 as well as cheetahs.. zebras… giraffes.. hippos… the list is endless… we were so blessed and grateful to have experienced all of this in just 3 days… I cannot recommend Pumba enough, we have taken away memories that will last a lifetime

We had such a lovely stay at Pumba, the whole experience from the time we arrived was excellent. The staff were very attentive and caring, the food was lovely and lots of it! They catered for my husbands dietary needs excellently without any trouble, going above and beyond. Nothing was too much trouble, every little detail had been thought about, and our Ranger Cameron was brilliant, very knowledgeable and really cared for the animals. A five star experience.

Wow, what a wonderful experience. Denise, our Ranger/ Guide on safari drives was so knowledgeable, passionate and fun to be with, she was The Best. The lodges were the height of luxury, and all the staff went beyond the call of duty. I cannot recommend Pumba highly enough. The food, activities available, comfort, and all the staff contributed to making our stay so memorable.

Absolutely fabulous place, everything from the accommodation to staff was 5 star, the lodges are amazing, the game drives are wonderful, a special mention to Thembane our ranger, made our trip unforgettable Would highly recommend this fantastic experience to anyone considering a safari in South Africa, Pumba Private Game Reserve is top of its game

An amazing experience. Everyone should do a safari at least once in their lives and they should chose Pumba in my opinion. Everything was perfect during our stay, the food, the service, the cleanliness of our rooms and the turndown service at night, no stone was left unturned. I honestly don't know how to put into words how special the game drives were. There is such a difference in seeing these animals free to roam and explore than viewing them in a Zoo. The staff at pumba are so respectful of the animals and you can tell the care they have for them. Our guide for the few days was Cleo, an absolute gentleman and extremely knowledgeable about every animal we encountered. His demeanor instantly puts you at ease and he made our trip all the more memorable with his anecdotes and pleasant commentary. We also learned lots of interesting things from Cleo and he was not afraid to test us to see how our knowledge was progressing! We really appreciate it and every moment out on a game drive was something to cherish forever. Also a special shout out to Mzee in the bar for keeping the good vibes flowing. We always knew we would be looked after when we received a warm welcome with a big smile from him. Thank you to all the staff in Pumba for making our honeymoon one we will never forget.

Pumba Private Game Reserve was everything we could want and more. Firstly the lodge itself is stunning. We stayed at the water lodge and woke to up the the view of hippos sunbathing almost everyday. The safari's were everything we could have asked for and more. Cleo, our guide was so knowledgable and went out of his way to make all 6 of our trips memorable. I will never forget the 1st one - where we were in the middle of the reserve watching elephants in their environment whilst enjoying some wine as the sun set. It truly was a pinch me moment. Cleo more or less drove to every corner to find animals and we didn't leave disappointed. He made us feel safe at all times. Our room itself was fantastic. It was deeply cleaned everyday and the highlight for us was the little water bottles we got in our bed each night. They thought of all the amenities, and our complimentary toiletries even included sunscreen and insect repellant. The food was fantastic and the chef really went above and beyond to cater for all of our needs. Mzie has to be the smiliest host we have ever met. He was so accommodating and even arranged a cake for my husband on our last day for his birthday. A truly once in a lifetime opportunity - we met some incredible people at this lodge. The attentiveness of the staff was for sure the cherry on top.

Fantastic experience, knowledgeable staff and great to see the animals. First safari experience and loved it. A little rustic but a great place with ability to see lots of animals, getting a respectful distance for great photos and to feel close to nature. Sadly no leopard sighting but saw the other main animals. Only criticism would be the food- this was a common theme throughout the Garden route and not unique to Pumba- it’s as though they are trying to replicate fine dining from the UK 20 years ago. Just go simple and do it well. Would happily recommend Pumba.
