Hotel Sunrise Golden Sands

We stayed at hotel sunrise im august for a week. This was a last minute hoilday that i booked. We arrived in the middle of the night and the lady on reception was nice the front of the hotel looked nice. However at the side of the hotel they was teenagers very loud and doing balloons. I had small children and rushed them in. The bathroom was beautiful and the room was very large however i was not inpressed with having mattresses on the floor and not provided with an acutal bed. The kettle also was not working and we had to go to reception twice to get this changed. The food was absolutely AWFUL breakfast was just a no go unless you wanted hotdogs and broccoli. Our room wasnt cleaned once. I had to go to reception on day 6 and ask for the room to be cleaned as my daughter was sick and the room still wasnt cleaned so we cleaned the room. We didnt spend much time in the hotel we spent most at the beach which was a nice 10 minute walk. The hotel had rude staff and guest that was very rude to english people noone would even smile at you. We was very lucky to meet a lovely english family this saved our time at the hotel as we managed to have some lovely evenings with them. Overall i wouldnt book with hotel sunrise again. I would consider bulgeria for another hoilday as we did find a lot to do and felt safe with the children. We liked how the night life was relaxed enough to take the children out to the local bars for a drink and they was welcomed.

Well where to start. Don’t be fooled by the pictures. The pools are tiny and there are very few sun beds. If you manage to get one at all you need to be up early to grab one!! The rooms are very basic, beds are rock hard and the pillows were filthy and lumpy. There’s no information in the room at all. The food looked unappealing and generally wasn’t the best. All that said the staff were friendly. Be careful if you ask the hotel to book you a taxi as the firm they call charge far more than you should be paying. Luckily I was warned about this by a local and checked the price before getting in the taxi. He tried to charge me twice the amount I had already paid for the same trip a few days earlier.

I argued with myself whether to give this hotel a 1 or 2 star. I always consider the price of the stay against my experience. Good bits The reception staff are all friendly The bar staff range from friendly to quiet but I never personally experienced rudeness but I did witness it The canteen staff are mostly rude, apart from one who I found cheerful The hotel was nice in general, nice looking, great pool areas. If you go out the back door past the pool, some stairs lead you almost to the beach, approx 100 m away. Bad bits Lumpy old pillows, I found them impossible to use The food was unedible. One day chicken burgers were labelled as potatoes leading me to bite into one🤮. The food is cold but it’s not nice hot so who cares The bar shut at 11 not 1am, it gives 1 am in their website FLEAS. My bed had fleas, I felt them bite me. I complained to the manager( following a trip to the pharmacist to confirm they were flea bites) Managers response The manager asked if she could check the room . I agreed. She said she believed I was after money and the bites were mosquito bites ( I had asked for the reimbursement of the flea cream I had bought) I informed her what the pharmacist had said. Without looking at my legs and examining them she concluded from her desk that I was making it all up for money. How insulting. She asked if she could call the doctor to examine me, and of course I agreed. She changed my room to a much nicer one and never apologised. I asked where the doctor was and she said she hadn’t called him yet PROOF: as well as the pictures I have added. If you look at the one star reviews on this site you will see: A review from a lady complaining that the hotel had dogs in it, and a review where a lady complains about fleas in the hotel So the manager knowing these 2 facts called me a liar and accused me of being a con artist

So we stayed here 20th-30th August. Firstly the good parts The weather was lovely Plenty of sun beds Reception staff were great Friendly animation team Good mix of activities/entertainment during day The not so great bit Cleanliness ! From the toilets around the hotel to the hotel rooms nowhere in our opinion was cleaned well. The rooms were never cleaned properly, just a bin emptied and a sheet folded The first room we were given (2 adults and 2 teenagers) was appalling. Patio door broken, sofa beds broken, and the view from the balcony was overgrown trees. They moved us and although one of the beds was still broken it was better. Food , not that it’s bad but for 10 nights it was limited and weird. We ended up living on plain pasta and bread. There was very limited choice for vegetarians. Kids enjoyed an ice cream each day that was included. Bus- was broken down for 6 of our 10 nights. We have children with visual impairments and was one of the reasons we chose here as walking was tricky for them. To be fair to the manager she sorted out alternative arrangements for us and was super helpful throughout our stay. Pool- potential to be good but so many cracks, missing tiles, and murky water. Lots of steps down with broken parts and very slippery. Relax pool at the front was nice in the afternoon Staff- generally some very good and lovely staff but sadly some very rude ones and miserable ones too Lighting around the hotel and pool toilets is not good at all Lifts - these are filthy inside and feel unsafe Lots of plastic waste as using single use plastic in many areas Overall it has the ability to be much better. I would suggest by English standards it is more of a 3 star.

Came back from here last week after an 11 night stay. This could be a lovely hotel however it's not the cleanest. The room cleaners hardly touched the rooms except empty the bins and fold a sheet on the bed so I had to complain to reception on 2 occasions as the floors werent swept and bathroom never cleaned and both times I was told they'd had complaints from other guests too about this. Beds were only changed once so i *****ped the bed myself on the 8th day to ensure they changed the bedding. Blanket and duvets were badly stained so i had to get them replaced. After my complaints the cleaners upped their game and started cleaning properly. Room was very spacious for 2 of us and we overlooked the quiet pool at the front. There was always plenty to eat so you wont starve but it was it was a bit odd at times, even saw cooked broccoli for breakfast, there were plenty of salads and lots of meat stews if you like that kind of thing but i ate fish everyday and really enjoyed the bulgarian cheese pie for breakfast but theres not a great selection for vegetarians. The food was always cold though so after speaking to the restaurant manager about this, the next day a microwave was put out beside the toaster. There's a kids section of food but there were only ever two things there luckily the toaster was usable at breakfast, lunch and dinner so my daughter lived on toast and pasta and could have pancakes at breakfast. Have to say that the Animation team did a great job and worked really hard as did the reception staff who were so helpful and friendly. One day I asked them at 11pm if I could have a kettle in my room but they didn't have any spare, then 10 mins later the lovely Melissa knocked on my door with one. The hotel is in a great location, a short walk to the beach and shops and bars but there are a lot of steps within the hotel grounds down to the pools. Our balcony door didn't lock when we arrived and took 2 people to open and close it but the wonderful Skrillen fixed the lock however the other repair wasn't completed during our stay as he said he couldn't do that so every day was a fight to open and shut the balcony door as it was so stiff. All in all this could be a lovely hotel if they paid more attention to detail and cleanliness and improved the food but its definitely not a 4 star but has other good things going for it and lovely swimming pools and definitely no sunbed wars! Beware though, Bulgaria is really expensive!!

Unfortunately we had issues from the start as the reception staff were rubbish & tried to tell me that my kids didn’t need wrist bands 🙄 but we got this resolved. The pool & hotel is actually brilliant.. the best pool we’ve used on a holiday like this. Bulgaria is full of Europeans which is great as you don’t have to fight for a sunbed! Or spend you week surrounded by northerners!(there was just one lovely northerner) Food all ok nothing to complain about, puddings we’re lovely. There’s lots of stair’s everywhere. Bar staff great, can get 2 alcoholic drinks at a time which was great as my mum isn’t very mobile. Beach is a 10 min walk from sunbed to sea.. just more steps to conquer. Lovely extremely busy promenade which was just as nice & busy in the evening. Plenty of places to get money out or change it up to spend there. Lots of shops to buy snacks as the snacks at the hotel were only biscuits. Also you had a very long walk from the pool right up to the restaurant to get to the ice creams annoyingly. Entertainment was good. Animation staff very lovely. Would I go back.. yeah I probably would.

Hello loveholidays! I purchased this holidays using you. Arrived at hotel Thursday morning. I was shocked! DOGS ARE AT RESORT!!! My DAUGHTER ALLERGIC TO DOGS!!! THIS WAS NOT ADVISED!!! DATE OF COMPLAIN:04/08/2023 once completed love holidays chat , no resolution was offered!

We visited as a family of five with a 5, 7 and 9 year old. Good points: Comfortable beds Quiet rooms Good hot powerful shower Fridge in room Room temperature good and air conditioning free Friendly staff Good animation team Big pools with varying depths and a nice temperature. Lots of sun beds without competition like some resorts. Bad points: Children’s food selection non-existent. Website states a full children’s buffet, not in reality this is plain pasta and potato balls, no meat apart from chicken nuggets one out of seven days. Adult food very repetitive and always pork or chicken leg in some manner of sauce. Not much to do outside of hotel other than restaurants, bars and a mini golf. Pools are murky, think there’s an issue with filtration. Pool table couldn’t be used as missing white ball the whole week. Photos are misleading as makes the complex look rural, there are no trees to the right as the photo shows but a big hotel overlooking the pools. Cleaners did little other than change towels and empty bins. Overall an average stay, wouldn’t discourage others if on a budget unless fussy children like ours with food. Still good value overall.

This hotel was so much better than I imagined. The facilities were great, the food was good and different options every day. Service was really quick at both bars and never had to wait more than 2 minutes. Shuttle buses to the beach 4 times a day each way. A ten minute walk to the front and the beach and 5 minutes from bars and restaurants. Sea view from our apar**ent balcony was so nice. Finally the staff were so nice and friendly, made an effort with everyone and even left me a bottle of bubbly and cakes in my room on my birthday which was an incredible gesture. Bobby and the others doing the entertainment were very enthusiastic and energetic.
