I stayed here for a night in March for a short trip to Glasgow. It was inexpensive, which was the primary factor in my decision, but I don't think I'd stay here again. I had to wait for a while after check-in at 3pm because my room wasn't ready yet. The room itself was okay, down some stairs, not too crammed, and all the beds had privacy curtains. Each bed also has a light and socket, which is basically a necessity these days but not a given everywhere. There were lockers in the room, but they were so shaky and only fitted a certain size of padlock, so I didn't bother to use one as I knew I'd be making an absolute racket every time I put my bag in or took it out. There was an ensuite bathroom which is always a plus, knowing you don't have to worry about forgetting your key/card every time. It was spacious and the shower was wonderful, really strong, and there was even a bathtub (though I can't imagine anyone using it in an eight-person dorm). Unfortunately using the shower basically flooded half the ensuite, and all the guests had to use toilet roll to wipe up all the water. Location is okay. It's not too far from the train station or city centre (though there is a big hill between the hostel and city centre), but far enough that you don't get late night party noise outside. It's also closer to the museums in the west. That being said, there really isn't much else to do in the area; it was pretty run down, with many streets closed for construction, and the restaurant and night life selection was very limited. I was looking forward to a decent sleep thanks to the curtains and the fact that we were far enough from the city centre, but that was a pipe dream. The entire hostel was paper thin. You could hear everything going on in the building, every person that passed our door (which was right across from the kitchen), and on top of that, right outside our window was where people would congregate to smoke or talk loudly on their phones all night. It also didn't help that I had a lot of inconsiderate people in my room who let their alarms blare loudly at all times of morning. I didn't enjoy the vibe of the place either. Everywhere on the route to my room there were guests sitting in random corners on laptops, and there were so many older men that I was really glad I'd booked a female dorm. If you can afford something better, definitely stay elsewhere.
