Castello di Spaltenna Exclusive Resort & Spa

In search of a relaxing and beautiful vacation to re-energize myself after a tough year, I had planned a trip to Tuscany for mid-August of 2021. I was unsure about where to stay so I scourged the internet and came across Castello di Spaltenna. For a second opinion, I asked my Italian friends (who are from the region) if they knew of the hotel and their thoughts on it. To my surprise, they did! They informed me it was indeed one of the best places for a luxurious and relaxing vacation, so I booked my stay. To my arrival, I was blown away - the location is absolutely beautiful. I loved hanging out by the poolside and taking in the fresh air and gorgeous Tuscan cypresses. The service was amazing, especially the food! I happened to stay right around the time Italians celebrate "Ferragosto" and it was so lovely. I felt like a princess in a castle, lol. The staff put together a delicious buffet by the poolside with live music throughout the evening. Everything was so elegant and just such an amazing experience. I had to book this place again this year! I'm back here again now, and I'm really glad I decided to come back. This time, I did some traveling in other spots in Tuscany, such as Florence, Siena, etc. before coming to Castello di Spaltenna. Comparing this place to other hotels in the region, I must say that while this hotel is not cheap, it is definitely worth all the money. I had never been so thankful for working air conditioning before in my life! The summers are not a joke in Italy, so having AC in my room, being up in the hills where there is fresh breeze and having a pool all in one place is like heaven on Earth. I also noticed a big difference in the internet service here and in the other places I stayed at. While not as fast as back home in the US, the service at Castello di Spaltenna is for sure the best I've experienced so far. Which is honestly quite surprising considering it’s in the middle of the Chianti area (which is basically like being in the middle of a forest). Anyways, I love this place (can you tell?!). I think it's totally worth it if you're looking for a relaxing, luxurious vacation. This place will re-energize you and you'll feel great by the end of your stay! Thank you so much to the hotel management and staff for my amazing experience. I'm so glad to be back here this year. I've added some photos from my stay last year and this year. You'll notice a change in the pool. Well, to my surprise this time around, they restored and upgraded the pool into an infinity pool. It’s so gorgeous, I love it! Beautiful, authentically Italian property. Michelin star restaurant at the hotel. Very quiet and lovely staff. Perfect get away for a couple or family looking to relax by the pool and enjoy the countryside. Some room for improvement: - beds and mattresses. Not that comfy. I could feel my husband’s every toss and turn. - no food after 9pm and you cannot walk anywhere

Superb time, first time in Chianti and enjoyed it thoroughly. The hotel is incredibly relaxing and a respite, located in a beautiful area that I could stay in for weeks. Incredible views, space to run and cycle nearby.

This is truly a beautiful and special place to stay! The staff was wonderful and our room (Terrace View Suite) was lovely, although be advised that the walls are very thin (you can hear your neighbor blow their nose and carry on a conversation even at quiet talking levels). The grounds and view are exquisite, (breathtaking) and the spa looked fantastic (I regret not scheduling a spa day!) The location made a great base to explore all of Tuscany, with most towns and sites we wanted to see within a 10 - 90 minute drive. We would NOT recommend dining at La Terrazza (it was pretty horrible - the worst food I recall having in years dining out) but they do have a Michelin starred restaurant, Il Pievano worth considering. Overall I would stay here again, but perhaps request the Terrace View Suite on the end so that we only had one shared wall, to keep the noise down!

I had dinner with Amici and I would say that we had an experience out of the usual canons. Dishes well executed and balanced in taste. The room directed by the MAITRE Angelo I would say in a masterful way, where he immediately puts you at ease with discretion and professionalism Well done everyone, thank you for this experience. Highly recommended.

The views from the old monastery are unmatched in my opinion. We had the "tree House" suite at the top of the tower, beautiful room, walls 2 ft thick, old wooden shutters on windows, fantastic- no elevators, bed hard as a rock. Breakfast on terrace was lovely. I would not suggest the Michelin star restaurant, pretentious and small bits of artsy food was terrible and not at all what we had in mind for 333 Euros with one bottle of wine, the head waiter Angelo was very uptight and downright weird. Go to the other restaurant in the wine cellar- classic italian dishes, beautiful setting. Vince and Marco at the desk were wonderful, Ahmed at breakfast was great. Baggae handles from Cortona was very friendly. The place is beautiful! Don't bother with the TV, no signal the entire time we were there.

We booked this hotel last minute and ended up with the most amazing room in a stunningly beautiful place. I have never woken to a more beautiful view. The service was excellent. The pool was a treat in 38 degree weather. I am so hopeful that we can return with friends.
