Castle Mountain Lodge

Really enjoyed our stay in the Little Pines cottage, it was nice and very clean. We really liked talking with the office staff, Joel and Wanda. It is a plus having onsite management for anything that might come up. We highly recommend Castle Mountain Lodge and definitely plan on returning in the future.

Rented little bear cabin for a month. This place is in terrible condition. Great location along the Fall River but that’s all that is good. Kitchen oven door wouldn’t close, hardly any pots and pans or utensils. Dirty pantry shelves. Furniture is in bad shape. Haas a metal floor furnace grate that gets hot and is a danger to step on when hot. Straight out of the 1950s. Tiny bathroom sink and shower so small you can’t move in it. Bedroom closet was full of junk. We left after two weeks. Avoid this place. It should be taken out of service and totally redone.

Beware of this hotel's heartless cancellation policy! We had to cancel our 4-night reservation 6 days before check-in due to a family emergency. This gave them 6 to 9 days' notice for each individual night we had booked. Despite the circumstances and ample notice, they refused to refund even a portion of our $1300 payment. The manager even laughed when I asked about the possibility of them re-booking the room, making it clear they intended to keep our money regardless. Thankfully, our credit card company intervened and issued a full refund after we disputed the charge. We are grateful for their understanding and support. Avoid this hotel at all costs. They have no compassion for their guests and will gladly take your money, even in the face of a genuine emergency.

We stayed in The Riverside cabin last week while attending a wedding in Estes. We actually had booked the Homestead House but they canceled our reservation due to remodeling not being completed. We were able to rebook into the Riverside cabin. What we assumed was a downgrade actually was an upgrade. We were much closer to the other cabins and friends, the lodge and the river. There were 6 of us and the cabin was perfect. Rustic, clean, furnished with everything we needed. 3 bedrooms - one smaller one with a queen (maybe large double?) bed and the other bedroom was large and had a twin and queen bed. You have to walk through one bedroom to get to the other and they shared a smaller bathroom with shower. Nice kitchen, dining room and large living room with a fireplace. The 3rd bedroom had a king bed and sleeper sofa and a large bathroom/shower. There was a bonus bathroom, too, without shower. Nice deck that overlooked the river. Yes, there is traffic on the road during the day but having access down the stairs to the river and following the path alongside the river made up for it. The cabins are all surrounded by beautiful pine trees and the property is well-kept and extremely clean. Pretty lights decorate the covered bridge and trees throughout the resort. Was so nice to take a walk by the river every morning or sit in the front of the cabin in one of many chairs or picnic tables. We absolutely loved the turkeys that wandered the property. There were over 20 that would walk all over the place and didn’t seem bothered by us while sitting outside. The lodge is a bit small but had board games, books, fishing rods, tackle box and coolers to borrow. Coffee and cookies everyday. We took our own fishing gear and caught trout off the covered bridge and up the road by Ponderosa Lodge - big ones! The front desk staff and property staff were very welcoming and helpful. We really enjoyed the Castle Mountain Lodge so much that I’m recommending it for our family reunion next year. Great for families, friends and couples.

This was a great little find, very close to the mountain and very close to town. Rustic, very clean and the gentleman at the desk could not have been nicer or more helpful. We would definitely go back the next time we go to Rockey Mountain National Park.

First time staying here, for my husband & I! Have always wanted to stay. It's right along Fall River. Within walking distance to town, shops and restaurants. There is a really good restaurant, right next door, The Wapiti! The one entrance to the Rocky Mountain National Park, is just up the road. Wildlife frequents there, we just saw wild turkey's. Great place to relax. We stayed in the Motel part, Castle 1. Has a little front porch with chairs. Sat out there a lot! The room was clean and has a lot of windows. Fresh cookies in the lobby and coffee! Gift shop. They do have cabins also and a hot tub. laundry and a firepit. We will be back.
