We encountered both inexperienced and rude service staff who was not at all helpful and gave rude & condescending remark (and not sure if because we are asian?). When we tried to wait for our lift to go out, no lift stopped for us. A staff came by and we told them we couldnt get any lift after patiently waiting for more than 10 minutes. (We only had 1 day in Edinburgh and it was already late afternoon then, we wanted to of course head out as soon as possible.) Her remark is "you just have to wait for the lift like anybody else". Instead of apologising for the wait and finding out first what she can help us with, which we believe is just basic hotel courtesy. Apparently, check-in staff who is an intern forgot to mention that the lobby is at level 4, so we need to take the lift up. (We were not informed that the hotel lobby is unusually located at level 4, and the ground street is connected there. Our room was at level 3, which was below the lobby). Imagined if we never asked around and continued to wait! Shift manager apologized & promised us they would do a follow-up and said there shouldnt be any racisim practice allowed. I didnt want to write this bad review because it wasted me more time. But i think, everyone deserves to be warned before they book the hotel. Our visit was on May 17th. We received an email on May 21st with promise for a follow up within 72 hours. Today is Jun 11th and still not a word. Just avoid this hotel and ibis chain, that's all I can say.
