This hotel is in a great spot we were 14 min walk to the castle 11 mins to the Royal Mile perfect for a weekend exploring Edinburgh. Rooms were clean with tea and coffee facilities nice breakfast and friendly staff. Only negative was my daughter was on a pull out mattress on the floor. Would be nice if family rooms had proper beds for everyone.

Typical experience of the hotel chain, not luxurious but perfectly alright for a short stay. Bed is comfy, room is clean, staff are friendly, breakfast is good.

Room was comfy and hotel clean however only one towel so had to ask for another. Breakfast - non existent and no plates available. Staff were asked about bringing out food and plates but said they had been busy with people coming down for breakfast and hadn’t cooked enough food. Night porter fell asleep and didn’t let us back in the hotel until we woke them. All in all - an average to poor stay.

Staff very pleasant & helpful, but, very understaffed. They have to run reception & the bar, & at breakfast one of the girls had to deal with the lack of breakfast food, plates constantly running out, hot water machine broken, coffee machine empty, plus, she had to keep running out to reception to check people in. Just ridiculous.

This is a standard tourist class hotel similar to Novotel, which is next door. Seven minutes to Grassmarket, ten to Victoria Street, 15 to the castle, 20 to Waverly Station. Nice shower and larger, very comfortable rooms. Near the U, and there is a great pub close by, Cloisters, which draws people from there. Also a good Italian restaurant down the street and Greek near the pub. The old city does not have many hotels and this is a good place.
