More 'hostel' than hotel, rather disappointing and not great value.
We booked 2 nights, double room in the Linton Hotel and were very disappointed.
It's a good job we didn't bring our cat as the room (room 5) certainly didn't have room to swing it! There was hardly space to get into bed and no bedside cabinet on one side. This wasn't a double room, just a small single with a double bed squeezed in. I would estimate the room to be less than half that of an average Travelodge or Premier Inn room. That said, the bed was comfortable and the room quiet.
The en-suite was cold being at the end corner of the building and there was no shampoo /soap etc. (We had to ask and even then just got 2 small bars of soap). Towels were provided which were of good quality and size.
The TV worked but the remote didn't so we couldn't find a way to adjust the volume. We did ask for this to be fixed in the morning but apparently (we were told) the staff were too busy with a funeral to get it sorted and the handyman wasn't available all day.
Breakfast was basic and not well cooked. Fried sausages were hardly cooked and not good quality, quality of the bacon and tomatoes was also 'basic', though they were cooked okay. Haggis and white pudding were very poor imitations of the real thing. There is an award winning butchers in the village - Why not use them? There were only four other people in the dining room hence no excuse for the food not being cooked properly.
We had expected better.
