After visiting on numerous occasions….sadly this may have been our last. Having arrived to a busy dining room it was clear the staff weren’t in any rush. The food was only average. The prawn cocktail served at room temperature and when we had our roast beef served to us, we found it colder than the prawn cocktail! The whole plate of food was cold. Staff too busy to acknowledge our table so just got on and ate it. Eventually got another drink. Desserts took a while to order and totally underwhelmed by the Eton Mess……should have been offered as a glass of sweet cream with a strawberry on top. So disappointing when it’s been so nice previous. The only part I enjoyed was the wine!

We enjoyed our dinner here last night. They do a 2 or 3 course set menu with a variety of choices. The starters were all great and then 3 of us ordered the flat iron steak (£5supplement) and 1 person had the steak pie. The mains were all excellent , cooked to perfection . Sticky toffee pudding is also highly recommended. We finished off in the bar for a quiet drink . The staff were friendly and professional, a thoroughly enjoyable evening, thank you!

After many a fine call in for Lunch, the Latest itinerary leaves me a little perplexed… Friday 5-9:00pm Saturday 4-9:00pm Sunday 12-6:00pm Giving a grand total 15 hours OPEN per week.. Lunch on Sunday Yes.. Any other day NO WHY? I cannot understand the business plan!

Great to stay somewhere with character. Beautiful bedroom, huge with lovely and unusual decoration. Big bathroom with free standing bath and shower. Some traffic noise ofcourse, given location but air conditioned so you can close the windows. Recommend especially to those who are fed up of generic chain hotels.

Had a lovely stay at the Cleveland Tontine for our daughters wedding in East Harsley. Rooms are spacious, comfy and clean. Air con in the rooms is very welcome as there is a little road noise if you have the windows open. Marie the manager was very welcoming and ensured we had a lovely stay. She very kindly arranged a large table for us all for the morning after the wedding, which was very much appreciated.

Had the most wonderful time. The food was delicious, good sized portions and well presented. The staff were also very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. The restaurant was luxurious and the whole experience felt like a lovely treat. Many thanksz

Fabulous stay. The duty manager and restaurant staff were brilliant. Helpful, friendly and professional. The food was delicious(best ever sticky toffee pud) our room(5) was lovely. Gorgeous deep bath, plenty of very hot water and lovely bath products. Our only ****** was the shower could have been cleaner(tiles area, but we manage holiday cottages so maybe looked too closely) this however did not spoil are stay and we can’t wait to rebook

It was mentioned that the Tontine, part of the Provenance Collection has a passion for high quality and a world of culinary delight. This was not the case on Christmas Day. Soup starter was tepid. Both of us ordered turkey for mains, our impression was it had been under a hot plate. We didn’t receive the creamed Brussels and the roast potatoes were inedible. The chocolate dessert was dry and underwhelming. The waiter brought petit fours, but we waited 15 minutes for coffee which didn’t arrive. At that point we decided to leave. I may add that the table staff were polite and worked extremely hard, but were totally overrun. We expected better but were totally disappointed.

We spent £1000 for Christmas lunch and it was not worth £10! Waited an hour for starters which to be fair was delicious but they were cold starters so easy to get temperature right. Waited ages for drinks, which when arrived they got wrong. Waited over 90 minutes for mains which when came we had to send back as it was stone cold. We asked them to reheat and when they arrived a second time they were still cold. Such a shame as the food tasted good but ruined by the temperature. Staff were in tears we felt so sorry for the waiting team they were as devastated as we were. Tables left mid meal obviously hungry! We really should receive a refund - totally unacceptable
