Secret Garden Chiangmai

The perfect place to enjoy Thai culture, relax, shop if you want, visit markets, or just sit by the pool & read. Nothing is too much trouble for our lovely hosts Peter, Pai & Isabel.. and all the staff/family. Great location, close to downtown Bo Sang, and near rural community. Our 1st visit was 12 years ago.. and will definitely return.

Second time here and we had an amazing stay with our family (8 year old and 11 year old children). The hotel is just outside of Chiang Mai, and we loved seeing the local area including using the free bikes to ride through the Paddy Fields and to the local Umbrella making factory. It was also cooler outside the city centre. Taxis (Grab) were cheap into Chiang Mai (around THB 150). The hotel is in beautiful grounds and the , pool was perfect to relax by. Izzy and Pai were brilliant hosts and gave us suggestions of things to do. Also the home cooked meals were delicious and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend, especially if you are looking for something a bit different outside the busy city centre.

My family consisting of wife and 2 kids (6 and 10) didn't really want to stay downtown and these beautifully built and landscaped bungalows were just perfect for that. A feeling of being more rural but within quick and easy reach of downtown when wanted. The staff were lovely and the family that runs and built the resort are just so approachable, kind and informative. The food was clearly cooked with love. This is hands down one of the best places to stay in the Chiang Mai area and at a very reasonable price too.

We stayed at The Secret Garden in early February and had an absolutely fantastic time. Isabel, Pai and Peter could not have been more welcoming or helpful - it was like staying with family. Their dedication and hospitality is outstanding! As a family with 2 young children, everything we could possibly need was available. Pai was so considerate when planning her menu, always including suitable options for the youngsters. We were able to enjoy an evening meal on 2 occasions and this was absolutely delicious (likewise, the breakfasts). The resort is thoughtfully planned (designed and built by the family from scratch) with plenty of tranquility and an abundance of wildlife surrounding the bungalows. We just had a truly magical few days staying with Pai, Peter and Isobel at The Secret Garden Chiang Mai and we have left feeling as if we have made some wonderful new friends for life - we travelled with our two teenage children and we were instantly made to feel like family in a home away from home . A mix of Thai and Mexican buildings amongst a range of tropical flora, the Secret Garden lives up to its name. The family are so kind and genuine. We enjoyed learning about the history of how the Secret Garden came to be and how previously, it was a series of workshops making a range of goods from furniture to marionettes. Nothing was too much trouble and Pai and Isobel arranged our pick ups and drop offs and even did our laundry. We ate the best home made ( with love by Pai ) Thai food of our trip and Pai goes fresh to the market every day to pick up the ingredients and you are welcome to go with her and watch her cook . Peter is super interesting to talk to - a wealth of knowledge about so many things and the whole place is decorated with his art and carvings . From the very first contact Isobel was wonderful- so helpful with all questions and couldn’t do more for us - she’s just gorgeous ! Honestly this is the **only ** place to stay in Chiang Mai - an oasis of calm just a short ride out of the noise of the city - what an absolute gem ! Once you've stayed with them, I cannot see how you can come to Thailand and not stay with them again. With much gratitude - we will be back xx

We have worked in the service industry for over 20 years and have never experienced such genuine and kind hospitality. This amazing family welcomed us with open arms, and we spent 10 wonderful days here. Peter shared his story of how this inspiring place came to be, and it set a special tone. There aren’t enough stars to rate an experience like this. The home-cooked meals were beyond delicious, and the conversations delightful! Isabels' recommendations on what to do in the area were perfect. We’ve been traveling for 7 months with a 10 and 5-year-old. She intuitively knew what we’d like to see and do in the area to make our stay relaxing, and fun with a splash of adventure. She arranged a driver for us to see a beautiful waterfall. We visited a local Christmas market and water adventure park that was so fun! One morning at breakfast, she delivered a bag of plasticine that turned into days of crafting. We helped make handmade ornaments and decorated their tree. It made a Christmas away from home, feel like we were at home. My 10-year-old son and I hung out in the kitchen one night with Pai and Isabel. Recipes and stories were shared along with many laughs. We felt like we were hanging out with friends on a Saturday night. Being with people who touch the minds and hearts of others, reconnected us to what matters most. To be in good company with good people, swapping a story, sharing a fantastic meal. It doesn’t get better than that. Peter, Pai, and Isabel are a family who care, deeply. You sense it throughout the stay. You see it in the smiles of their team and guests. It sets such a calm and joyful tone. To find places in this world where you can truly connect with others, your loved ones, and yourself again is rare. I wish others the gift of experiencing this beautiful place and people. What an absolute warm and hospitable stay our big group had at the secret garden. Isabelle and her family were amazing hosts. The food was very good. We had dinner and breakfast with a variety of both Thai and western food items.

Secret Garden is an excellent place to stay when you visit Chiang Mai city and region. The place is located in a beautiful garden (hence the name), and it is very quiet. All people there are super friendly, with no exception. The breakfasts are copious and very tasty, and so are dinner (if you order one). Secret Garden has also a rich history that Isabel will tell you if you ask her. She will also help you out with anything you need. Overall, it is amongst the best places I have visited. If I come back to Thailand one day, Secret Garden will be on my list.

This was, hands down, the best place we've stayed in all of our travels. It's family run and they really make you feel like family. We were only booked to stay 2 nights before moving closer into the city but we loved it so much that we canceled our other hotel bookings and stayed at the Secret Garden for our whole trip to Chiang Mai. The environment is enchanting and cozy with amazing plants and sounds all around, even though you're a short bike ride from a nearby city street with great food and shopping areas. We borrowed some bikes the first day and rented a moped our second day and Isabel and her family were the absolute best with everything. Getting a Grab car for trips further into Chiang Mai was super easy and not expensive at all either. It was great to come back after a busy day to a more relaxing space too. The food and family feel was amazing and I would 1000% come back here and bring all my friends and family! Including kiddos because the play area and pool area are great too! Cannot sing enough praises about the Secret Garden!
