My recent stay at Jasmine Hills Lodge in Doi Saket, Thailand, was an experience I won't soon forget, but for all the wrong reasons. The lodge feels like you're living in someone's backyard, complete with all the unwanted pests and none of the comforts you'd expect from a vacation spot. Upon arrival, we were immediately put off by the dated facilities. The floor is bare cement, and the sheets were stained and uninviting. To make matters worse, the bidets and faucets didn't work, adding to our discomfort. The lack of ecological pest control was evident, with centipedes, lizards in the refrigerator, beetles crawling out of drains, and an ant infestation in the toilet. It was like stepping into a horror movie. Speaking of horror, our check-in experience was straight out of Hitchcock's "The Birds." Instead of birds, we were swarmed by thousands of moths around all the lights and doors. We screamed for two hours straight, unable to believe what we were witnessing. One would think I was there scouting horror film locations. While I appreciate the gardens and ponds, the lack of ecological pest control severely detracts from their beauty. Adding to the discomfort, the air conditioning was limited to just the bedroom, leaving the rest of the unit hot and stuffy. With so many critters indoors, I couldn't trust unpacking my belongings, fearing they would become infested or damaged. The final straw was the overwhelming number of critters in the lodge. Horrified, we only managed to stay for one night before booking elsewhere for the remainder of our stay in the area. In summary, Jasmine Hills Lodge might be suitable if you need a place to live and can tolerate these conditions. However, if you're looking for a vacation spot, this is not the lodge for you. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had while traveling, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone seeking a relaxing and enjoyable trip.
