Stayed here for a couple of nights, rooms nice and clean views absolutely stunning! Dinner was fabulous and the breakfast was the best I’ve had yet! Lovely produce and cooked to order!! Breakfast gentlemen Big guy very professional and the breakfast was cooked perfectly! Will definitely be back! Parking not great when busy though but that’s the trouble with having a beautiful Hotel/pub in this location

Lovely place, stunning location and views. However our experience was ruined by one particular barmaid who overcharged for two drinks and also embarrassed a young waitress by telling her off in front of customers. Very unprofessional behaviour on her part.

We popped in for some food and drink whilst out and about in Cowes/Gurnard. Pub was busy but we got a table no problem. Didn’t have to wait too long for food. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Meals were a good size and the food was absolutely delicious. Really delicious! Would definitely recommend and hope to return. (And when the weather is nice there is lots of lovely outside space!)

We had a great 3 night B&B at The Woodvale in Gurnard. The pub has great views over the Solent and is only a minute from the beach at Gurnard. Accommodation is clean and thoughtfully presented. Even the tea boat had decaf tea and coffee. Food and drink is very good indeed and the breakfast is superb. Call Nathan the Manager directly to get the best rate.

I visited The Woodvale whilst over on the island on a family weekend away. We went for a meal on the Sunday lunchtime on our way home. I ordered the roast beef Sunday dinner and can hands down say it was the best roast dinner I have ever had. Generous portion sizes and great value for money. I had to request for the beef to be well done as I am currently 7 months pregnant and it was cooked to perfection. I understand that currently there is no permanent head chef in the kitchen and one of the regular kitchen staff has stepped up in place and you would never have known. In my opinion you’ve already got the perfect kitchen team as I couldn’t fault the food! The food was so delicious, crispy but fluffy roasties, rich gravy, a great selection of veg, a generous portion of perfectly cooked meat (I had beef and others on the table had lamb), perfectly seasoned stuffing and a large homemade Yorkshire pudding to suck up all the juices. For dessert I chose the toffee apple pie, and when it arrived I was AMAZED by the size, it was huge! It was delicious and the vanilla custard just topped it off.. safe to say, I will definitely be heading back to The Woodvale on my next visit over to the Isle of Wight!

I stay in hotels all over the UK weekly for our business and this hotel and pub was fantastic. I don't drink alcohol but I had a great time. The hotel room was clean, comfortable, had everything needed and the views were brilliant. But the atmosphere in the pub was superb. I had a quality burger and took part in the quiz night which was excellent. They couldn't have done more to make me feel welcome and I would recommend it to anyone who has the chance to go. 😀

Had breakfast with a large family group and the food was really good , the staff very friendly and the location is superb with fantastic views across the Solent. We had a lovely table in a more private setting as we were a large group so overall a great experience!

A year ago I posted a terrible review on the back of a terrible meal following a change in ownership. I'm so pleased to see the restaurant is back on track... well done! They seem to have embraced hearty home made grub again and dropped the bookers cheapest cuts and microwave/fryer meals. The view is to die for and I'm proud of them.

Stayed here for a couple of nights when enjoying a taster visit to see what the Isle of Wight was like compared to our home island of the Isle of Man. The Woodvale was a comfortable hotel, the staff welcoming and friendly. The bar and restaurant (separate review) were great to have at end of a busy day, avoiding having to drive out to eat. Room was comfortable although slightly airless at night - the decent standing fan provided in the room was fairly essential and luckily also quiet when running. Bathroom was spacious and having a bath plus shower is always a bonus in my books. Stunning views across the Solent Estuary at breakfast. No designated parking, although nearby street parking is free and we had no problem getting a park right in front of the hotel every time. One thing some potential visitors may need to consider is that the rooms are on the second floor so there are 4 flights of stairs to traverse when arriving and leaving with luggage. We didn’t need to ask, but I am confident the young people running the hotel would be willing to assist.
