Hotel Riu Palace Tenerife

Best things about this hotel, and there are many ... views from the main bar & restaurant - simply lovely! Bar & restaurant staff - friendly,quick & professional. Cleanliness of bedrooms and all public areas is super. Location great - a short walk to a couple of bars & restaurants. Easy walk to La Caleta when turn right out of promenade entrance, turn left to Costa Adeje and Fanabe. Food is very good. We especially enjoyed the Spanish speciality restaurant ( we weren't going to bother as had been disappointed at a different RIU Palace) but everything about this was fab! The hotel delivered a fantastic New Years Eve from the additional decorations, to the super food, complimentary wines plus the traditional 'cava and grapes' for midnight! The public firework display made it even more memorable with the views from the terrace. If you were still hungry there was even a midnight supper. Our room was on floor 2 so we had a garden / slight sea view. Sun was on our balcony most of the day. On to what disappointed us.... we did report a couple of problems in our room. We only had 2 plugs in the room (1 by bed & 1 for kettle). The USB points were damaged and would not charge. There is 1 plug point in bathroom also. Reported to reception said aware of problem and nothing can do. Thru the week the wifi router in our room started making strange buzzing / clicking noises. Reported to reception seemed disinterested and nothing got fixed. We had a bad experience when we hired eBikes for 2 days. Checked with reception the day before and asked would we be able to store them in the ground floor luggage room overnight and charge them. We were told yes. eBikes duly delivered and a great day as we ventured out to Los Cristianos, Palm Mar and back. On return to hotel a receptionist came over and started speaking to us in a raised voice / very stern manner, 'what were we doing'? who had said we could'? 'luggage room would be full tomorrow'. Told to lock the eBikes up outside. The bike stand isn't bolted to the floor so you could easily steal a bike. Our 2nd day we had planned to ride to Playa Paraiso and Hard Rock hotel to have a look a round but with the hills, as we couldn't charge the bikes, we were doubtful our batteries would have got us there and back. Unfortunately the 'dour' reception staff is a memory that will stick with us. Finally, and not really the hotels fault the hotel did get busier the closer we got to New Year. Much reserving of sunbeds and empty for long periods - see typical photo.

We stayed at this hotel for two weeks at the end of may , on entering the hotel we were greeted coldly by a female receptionist , we were told we were going to be charged 60 euros for the safe , in all the hotels we have stayed at we have never been charged for the safe. We were told it wasn’t in our deal , didn’t know we had a deal as I paid full price. The hotel was clean and the view from the outside bar area was lovely . We had problems with the bed it had a huge lump in the middle after two days we asked them to change the mattress which I assume they just flipped it as the lump came back the next night . The food was very same same every night so we ate out five nights . It’s quite a walk from any bars with a bit of life. The place was mainly old people so if you are young I would not recommend it . Get up early to get your sunbed as they are towelled up by 7am. The walk back to room was a stretch so if you forgot something it was a pain to keep going back . The beach in front of the hotel is black gravel . Maids would come into your room after one knock before you could answer . Would we go back there … NO!

Just got back from a wonderful stay here we were nervous as a lot of reviews were couples and to be fair 70-80% were couples but that meant our kids got loads of fuss from the staff which they loved! Every staff member we encountered over our week was a credit to themselves and this hotel. Negative The only thing I didn’t like is that you have to pay for your drinks at the evening meal, you can either pay cash or have it put on room otherwise it’s brilliant Positive The whole hotel and grounds are spotless the pools are great and you can jump in and have fun in the main pool with no issues. We asked the mini bar to be cleared so we took extra food from breakfast to make up sandwich at lunch which worked well and we topped up our water bottles in morning again to save money There is a supermarket just by car park which has loads of useful stuff We got our TUI rep to sort a car which was easy the rental place is 2 minutes away The music can be loud in the evening but stops around 10:30ish We paid extra to extend out checkout it was 18euro per hour but a great idea which helped the dead time between check out and getting bus I would say definitely get a private transfer as the hotel is last on drop off and can take 1 hour plus wheee if you drive it’s only 20-30mins Also take tea bags the ones there are not that great Overall it’s the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at

The service at this hotel is spot on! Attentive, friendly and hard working staff throughout. Special mentions to Ali - poolside waiter, cracking aftershave lol and always prompt with service. Jorge - restaurant waiter, always humming a tune and offering an uplifting thought with such a lovely smile & pleasant demeanour. I name two but honestly all staff were great! The hotel is so clean, food is great and hot which is not always the case at some buffet restaurants. Love the fact that it’s Half Board and not been ruined by the negatives of All Inclusive. Pools are great, so clean, as are poolside areas and sun beds are aplenty and comfy too. Lovely local area with some lovely walks to be had along the seafront. Would definitely recommend this hotel 👍

Some aspects of the building need some attention. For example: the pool had tiles missing; the gym floor had a break; the rooms needed a lick of paint and some attention to the taps and plugs.

Another first class stay at the Riu Palace Tenerife. For many years we’ve appreciated everything about this hotel - the location, the bedrooms, the pool areas, the food and drinks, and particularly the people who are brilliant - we will be returning soon!

Have stayed here twice before and were very happy to come back again with friends this time. They were very impressed and have said that they would be more than happy to come back again. The staff are so helpful and the food it great. There is so much to chose from at breakfast and the evening meal. The two special restaurants are excellent and it is lovely to have table service as a change. The rooms are maintained to a very good standard.
