This was a birthday present to my son and his partner, they found hotel very disappointing with sloppy, rude management. Worst of all the shower was overrun with ants. Worked in hotel environments and know that pleasing everyone is difficult however something needs to change at Rudloe and where everyone can have a good experience not the lucky few. Positive note was reception staff - professional and efficient. Have waited weeks for a full refund, still o/s to date.

On the spur of the moment my wife and I decided to get away for the night, we sat in pub and whilst having a drink googled nearby places to visit and came across this little gem The price of a one night stay was something not to be turned down so we booked On arrival we were absolutely mesmerised by the quirkiness of this place. MPW has amazing taste in decor from the vast amounts of pictures that surround you as you walk through every corridor , Having 4 lounges each in its unique way to sit and chill to the cosy restaurant that serves what I can only say was absolutely amazing food. But don’t take my word for it go and have a stay yourself, you will surely not be disappointed.

The building is impressive enough, but the interior, the decoration, the myriad collections, iconic photographs, and not least the huge Mouse man furnishings are truly spectacular. The lounges on the ground floor feel like a visit to a luxurious museum or art gallery. The bedrooms continue the decorative theme of collectibles and large house plants As an average hotel you would consider it lacking somewhat - no lifts of course but no help with baggage, reception too rushed and not much information, in our case a magnificent bath but no shower, very limited hanging space, and beautiful furniture that you simply cannot place your luggage on. No tea coffee etc, but a magnificent view right down Box valley to Bath All that said, you should not judge this as an “ordinary or average” hotel, but rather marvel at the contents. I will not discuss the bar and restaurant here as it is a separate listing on TripA The house has extensive grounds, but intensive rewilding has rendered them somewhat inaccessible

Fantastic food ,location and staff .the hotel is excellent in every way .Room #1 was well designed, fantastic roll top bath and comfy bed .if any Criticism it would be it was warm and only one window would open .the room is spacious, well furnished and very quirky and we loved everything about it . The staff are fantastic ,not in Your face and leave you alone but happy to chat and discuss anything if you wish . The bar is outstanding ,yes it isn’t cheap but as you say in life you get what you pay for ,hopefully that says enough about the quality of the drinks on offer . Restaurant is out of this world ,everything we had was presented and cooked to perfection. A big thank you to all the staff and to Mr White for making our stay incredible. We will be back 👍😁

What a wonderful stay we had at the Rudloe Arms. Guy, Katie, Bruno and Rollo (the staff) were as kind, considerate and caring as it gets. A very special mention for Guy who made this a magical stay; an exceptional host who went the extra mile… The hotel, the grounds and our room were idyllic, beautiful and unique. The setting of The Rudloe Arms is beyond the postcard experience. This is a hotel/home that you do not want to leave and we look to forward to enjoying again very soon.

There’s a lot to take in at Rudloe. The walls filled with photography by famous British photographers and paintings by British artists. The longes sweet and comfy with a little fire going, each filled with treasures. We drank in the Mousehole bar, old school charm all dressed in thick burr oak like an old old boozer but furniture luxury. The food was delicious and many people enjoying the enviroment that has a junky like feel with plats everywhere. Staff are incredible and will go the extra way to look after you thank you to everyone and Guy for making our stay so memorable.

An interesting and well done execution of the country house concept by Marco Pierre White. There has been great investment in the atmosphere, furniture and art in the main house. Food was great and filling with starters, mains and pudding. Although it may seem unkempt, the grounds surrounding the main house aims to capture the concept of ‘wildlife taking over’ which I have to say is interesting and really brings this fairytale-esque look to the property. Will surely be coming back again.

The location was nice and the rooms appeared comfortable although we ended up unable to stay, Most of the staff were professional. The issue related to the restaurant. We arrived in plenty of time for our meal however it was at least half an hour before we were shown to the table, despite there being a number of tables free. We were given the menu and not informed of any changes or non-availability. When we looked at the menu the choice was very limited but we made our choice and when we went to order we were told it wasn’t available. We were disappointed as there really wasn’t anything else we wanted, but as we had already paid for the meal as part of a voucher deal we would have to order. There was a man who seemed to involved in all sorts and we expressed that we were disappointed that there were no alternatives. He appeared offended at this suggestion and told us to talk to other customers as they were happy. We suggested that this was not really an appropriate response to which point he considered We were being rude and that he wasn’t going to serve us and also wouldn’t give us breakfast in the morning. As a diabetic being told that I couldn’t access food for this period (you were strictly forbidden from bringing your own food on site) we had no other alternative but to pack up and leave. It was clear that we were being treated as second class clients due to a number of other things, but nobody deserves to be shown this level of disrespect. I will never go to a Marco Pierre White establishment again and suggest that people read reviews for this place.

As we arrived at Rudloe arms hotel, we were kindly greeted by members of staff who helped us check in, with one member of staff asking if we would like help carrying our bags to our room. Our room, situated in the “treetops” area was very unique, clean and cosy. The balcony overlooked the greenery around the hotel. The bed was comfy and the decor was interesting, however a thinner duvet would be nice, considering it’s almost summer after all. Now, for the restaurant… The menu was limited, only 2 starters, which if you were staying for a number of days would become very boring. The food itself was hit or miss, some dishes would be very tasty whereas others would be bland and small. A note would be please stop adding egg to every dish! It felt like every meal, including breakfast had egg in, which became a running joke with me and my partner. This resulted in us searching elsewhere for a meal. Soft drinks came in a small glass but a big price. £5 for a small glass of coke seemed a bit much. The bar area hosted a selection of interesting monuments and decor, which although cool, did not make up for the overpriced cocktails. It should be noted that if you do have a voucher for a free cocktail or two, that this was time limited. Very annoying. Now, time for the staff and customer service. Something that seems to be a constant theme with ex-customers. Rollo was a credit to the hotel. He cracked conversations when appropriate, as well as helping customers wherever possible. One minute, he was making cocktails and the next he was waiting tables in the restaurant. Also, his knowledge of cocktails was great to hear. If only all staff followed his etiquette and efforts. One waiter, dressed in a black turtle neck, glasses and dark hair, made very little effort with customers. It seems baffling that someone who seems to dislike the public, to be working in customer service. Other things to note. Almost everything has a surcharge, including a £99 addition if you wanted a second breakfast. You would be issue a fine if you caught bringing outside food or drink to your room, which feels unthoughtful if someone needed something for medical reasons! If they brushed up on customer service and added a few more things on the menu (WITHOUT EGG!) I would stay here again.
