The hotel is an easy walk (just a few minutes) from the railway station. It is about two minutes walk to the cathedral which you can see (and hear) from the hotel: the bells chime quite loudly at about 08:00 am and other times. Rooms are a decent size and the beds are very comfortable. It is clean and in the room there is a safe, tv, bathroom with a shower (that oddly has no shower curtain or screen - the floor gets quite wet). Breakfast is good and includes the normal range of hot and cold foods from croissants, toast, bacon, egg, sausage, buns, cereals, hams, salamis, cheeses, coffee, tea, hot water and some really very nice fruit juices (some of the nicest I have tasted in a hotel). The staff in the dining area were really pleasant and friendly. The reception staff were a little more varied but polite and efficient enough. Outside the hotel doesn't look that much but it is generally pleasant and a great base inside. Next door are some convenience store types of shops and a kebab house that I tried and it was exactly the same as back home. McDonalds is just across the road, if that is your thing. We walked to all of the Christmas markets (where we did most of our eating) and around the city centre and down to the Rhine. All are in easy walking distance. There is a bag room where you can leave your bags upon checkout and come back for them later. The security of that was a little lax as people just walked in from the street and took their bags. I went to the reception and told them I was taking mine and the lady looked as if to say, ”ok fine.” No checks. There is also little checking of people walking in from the street and just going upstairs but the doors on the rooms were pretty secure. The lighting is not great in the room and the lights around the hotel are seemingly hanging from their connections. Overall it was a great base from which to explore the city and get to and from. good night's sleep - despite the bells and a good breakfast. I would stay again for a short break in the city.

The hotel is quite central in Cologne. It also has probably given the possibility to breakfast directly in the hotel the reservation. However, already at the arrival, this was shown at the reception before and after me, there were probably noise differences between the bookings of the arrival guests and the understanding that only the German-speaking lady had at the reception. My colleague has clearly ordered breakfast with, but he had to call it loudly next morning. I myself, I'm very much in hotels on the way I've experienced extremely rarely that staff always strongly before yesterday each other disputes about courses that should be practiced. My room itself was awaiting and probably had the flair of the 1980s. Electric cable simply sticked to the wall, hoping that they would not solve again. In general, I would not book this hotel anymore. What the reason staff and guests are constantly crying negative.

Ignore the reviews!! Mum and I had hiccups when we arrived the wonderful receptionist sorted our issues out with friendly speed, excellent stay in the triple room , despite not having the bath for mum, they change our room, the hotel is excellent position for visitors

Die Lage ist gut, zu Fuß ca. 15 Minuten zum Dom, in einer einigermaßen ruhigen Seitenstraße. Zimmer sind sauber und gut ausgestattet aber klein. Hier sind wohl einige Häuser zusammengefügt worden, es wird deswegen wohl Unterschiede in der Größe der Zimmer geben. Schöne und große Auswahl zum Frühstück, welches auf der Website für einen unschlagbaren Preis inkludiert war. Tiefgarage gegen Gebühr vorhanden, zu breit sollte das Auto dafür nicht sein. Check In und Out hat wunderbar funktioniert.

Very clean, modern hotel. Nice view from the window, especially when being on the 16th floor! It's around 20 mins walk from the center- except that, everything was perfect.

I stayed here for 4 nights while attending an International Expo nearby. I chose it due to ts excellent location to the old town square (5 mins walk) and nearby transit options. Check in was painful and laborious having to give all same information again despite booking online and handed an old fashioned key with a giant key ring (a door knob) The gothic decor is initially quite charming with darkened wood and portraits of dead people everywhere. The single room was cramped, tired and dated and boiling hot. With no air conditioning or the ability to open the window more than an inch I was left to roast away while trying to sleep. No sleep was managed. PIllows are thin, mattress is thin, uncomfortable bed. Shower is rubbish and a curtain so short its impossible to not cover the floor in water. No glass in room so had to get one from reception. Breakfast is ok, fairly basic cold options - meat, cheese, bread, boiled egg, cereal and juices. Dining room has some appeal and was tidy with tables cleared quickly. The main advantage of this hotel is the location, there is nothing else.

Einfaches schlichtes Hotel zur Übernachtung mehr aber auch nicht. Hier fehlt alles was schön ist. Das Waschbecken hat starke Risse und die Wandfliese ist kaputt. Sauberkeit ist ok, leider keine Klimaanlage sodass das Fenster in der Nacht aufgelassen habe aber dann wieder zu gemacht habe da vor dem Hotel eine gut befahrende Straße ist und einige meinten das es eine Rennstrecke wäre. Sehr laut. Alles rausgerissen hat das Frühstück hier gibt es es Wurst, Käse, Nutella, Marmelade frisches Obst,Müsli usw. das Frühstück war echt gut gut und für jeden etwas dabei.

Having been to several German cities we knew what to expect from the Casa Colonia. Very friendly people, fantastic service and the whole hotel was spotlessly clean. The location is excellent giving us the option of walking through town or along the river. Breakfast was very good. A selection of healthy cereals, fruit, nuts and pro biotic yogurts, along with bacon, eggs, bread and cold meats. All washed down with proper barista made coffee. We were in Cologne at carnival time and the whole city was very busy. After a long day walking around the city we looked forward to the comfy surroundings of the Casa Colonia. Its a pity there was no lift. We were on the 4th floor. 94 steps up, yes I counted them! In fairness we knew there wasn't a lift before we booked as it has been well publicised but we were unlucky to be on the top floor. Its also a shame there wasn't a safe in the room. I cant remember the last place we stayed that didn't have a safe. I spoke to reception and we could leave things in the hotels safe, but chose not to. We ended up carrying our passports and wallets around with us all day every day. Not an ideal situation. The city is very safe and we didn't feel that we would be pickpocketed, and the hotel also felt extremely safe, however my insurance company would probably pay out if I were a victim of street crime, doubt they would do that if my valuables were left in a hotel room. A room safe makes such a difference. We paid 200 Euros a night. Certainly not cheap, probably due to the carnival. For this we would have expected things found in other hotels like a shower cap, or little bottles of shampoo and conditioner. The sort of things most hotels charging that sort of money would provide. There was a fridge with a few bottles of water and soda in. But they had to be paid for so we didn't drink them. I have rated this hotel as average and yet it is far better that average. The room safe ,no lift and a lack of the little things in the bathroom takes points away from what is a terrific hotel in a great location.

Llegamos por la noche a este hotel, en la recepción había un señor que la verdad nos atendió de forma cordial y educada, a pesar de no hablar nada en español, nos entendimos en ingles. La primera impresión del hotel, es de una pensión, para nada lo catalogaría de hotel. El ascensor es de lo mas antiguo que yo me acuerdo ver. La llave de la habitación es un bloque de pesada, nada practica para llevártela. Alquilamos un coche, y la verdad que no encontramos problemas para aparcar cerca del ”hotel”. Cuando entramos en la habitación, lo primero que hice fue compararla con lo que había visto en la pagina del hotel en internet, difiere un poco sobre todo en la decoración pero para ser honesta con mi experiencia, la habitación para 3 personas es espaciosa, nos dieron una con vistas al exterior y luminosa, que se agradece muchísimo y el baño, bastante amplio, pero con defectos, de hecho según el plano que ponen detrás de las puertas era la mas grande de la planta. Al dia siguiente puedes ver mejor la habitacion, aparentemente limpia, sabanas limpias, baño limpio,.. pero SORPRESA!!! NOS ENCONTRAMOS UNA PRENDA DE ROPA INTERIOR SOBRE LA BUTACA QUE QUEDABA DEBAJO DEL ESCRITORIO. Madre mía!!!! casi me da algo. Sin embargo, la habitación estaba limpia, hasta la cortina del baño la habían puesto nueva, se notaba, tenia todavía los pliegues del doblado. Fui a comunicarlo a recepción, esperando como mínimo una disculpa y un que se yo, pero el comentario del recepcionista, un Sr bastante seco y desagradable y desde luego que no se caracterizaba por su cordialidad y simpatía y una Sra. rubia que estaba a su lado en la recepción , fue un ”Gracias” y coger el numero de la habitacion. Me quede en el mostrador esperando una reacción mas acorde con lo sucedido, pero nada, no la hubo. La habitación tiene el hueco para un refrigerador pequeño, pero no lo hay, las habitaciones no son insonorizadas, se escucha los golpes de los clientes de arriba y del pasillo, aunque debo decir que no fue lo habitual. Hace falta un cambio de colchones urgente, se hunden muchisimo. La bañera es altísima, y cuesta salir de ella. Ahora, lo positivo, la situación del hotel es muy buena, a 20 min caminando, llegamos a la catedral y centro histórico. Cerca de muchos restaurantes, que cierran bastante tarde. Wifi en el hotel. La habitación se limpiaba y se cambiaban las toallas todos los días. La moqueta relativamente limpia, la habitación con calefacción. La verdad y para finalizar, y viendo las cosas por el lado positivo como lugar de transito y para pasar la noche, porque el resto del día estamos fuera visitando los alrededores, no esta mal.

Nothing fancy, nothing unnecessary in the room, but a few more towels could have been better. Very clean rooms. I didn't have the breakfast, but checked it and seen that it is just like the rooms, nothing fancy nothing much. The downside of the hotel is that it is not that close to the city center, I was expecting it to be at the heart of the city. And if it was, it could have been a perfect choice. But it is still worth the money.
