This is my second time staying at this hotel and I just cannot fault the service. Esther on reception was so helpful and even brought a little cuddly toy up to the room for my two year old daughter. The travel cot I had pre-ordered was already in the room when we arrived and we were given a lovely big room that the three of us could enjoy without being on top of each other. The room was spotlessly clean and all the cleaning staff were so friendly in the morning. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent (again a high chair was ready and waiting for us when we arrived) and whilst the breakfast is a buffet, it is a good selection and high quality. The only small thing I would suggest is that the quality of the coffee is improved and that all coffees are included in the breakfast as paying extra for a 'speciality coffee' is not really in-keeping with a hotel of this standard.

Wow what an amazing hotel and amazing staff, never been made to feel so welcome. We attended Woodlands Park, for New Year’s Eve for a murder mystery black tie event, from the minute we arrived we couldn’t have asked for better. The grounds are stunning, the entrance beautifully decorated for Christmas and the architecture of the building was so lovely to look at. Once in reception we were warmly greeted by Steve, Justin and Aysha, Aysha checked us in and was so informative and friendly, the reception staff including Deborah just couldn’t do enough to make our welcome most enjoyable. Once in our room we were delighted by the room and how clean, spacious and relaxing it was, the toiletries were lovely, and the little extra touches like robes and slippers were great. The bed was comfy. Once we had settled in we went down to the bar to get a drink, Victoria was very welcoming and Evan ran around to find me gluten free crisps, they were very hospitable. We went onto the Murder mystery event and the staff were so professional serving the food and being very attentive to our needs. We celebrated midnight and welcomed in 2024, the staff were professional, welcoming and friendly and Wasiq, managed the night so well, the staff really worked hard. I wish I could remember all their names to thank them, but to name a few David M, and Sheldon who ran the night, Casey who worked so hard and really stood out. In the morning we attended breakfast after a fantastic nights sleep in a wonderful bed, breakfast was delicious and nothing was to much trouble, Fredy, Jay and the other staff could not do enough for you. We packed up and checked out but decided to sit and enjoy the reception with the fire, Steve and Magpy, along with Julian were so lovely, we didn’t feel rushed, they got us coffees, chatted with us and even took some photos of us all. Thank you so much to the staff and managers you made our NYE amazing. We will visit again. Unfortunately we lost Steve’s business card so can’t email him direct or thank him.

The conference facilities and rooms are very nice. The breakfast was gorgeous. Special mentions to Laura who was our concierge for my meeting on Thu 18th Oct and then happened to also serve me breakfast on Fri morning. What a fantastic individual, very attentive and friendly. Laura took the time to ask questions, have some chatter and see to our every need. Please pass on team Hable’s thanks!

Stayed here with family while visiting Chessington theme park. The hotel is located in nice quite part with beautiful views. The staff were brilliant and very helpful. Staff recognised my membership status and explained all benefits. The room had few stains but overall was comfortable. Note the place has no restaurant or anything at walking distance but few local places offer delivery. Breakfast was unfortunately a bit letdown for us 2 days in a row as the hash browns were cold and croissants not warm! Being vegetarian that were the options I went for as didn’t have much choice. Thankfully good coffee machine so had lovely cappuccino. I will however stay again more for the great staff and the location of the hotel.

A warm welcome awaits guests to Great Fosters. Clean & pleasant rooms, immaculate bathrooms, comfortable beds, offer an excellent nights sleep. Despite the slightly damp weather we were charmed by the gardens and could quite easily imagine a summers afternoon enjoying each others company in such convivial spaces. We enjoyed a set lunch menu in the ‘Estate Grill’ our group all ordered something different - all arrived at the same time, hot and delicious. Having enjoyed our lunch we settled for a light supper in the bar - we were not disappointed. Breakfast, we opted for a lighter option was also very enjoyable. We look forward to returning to Great Fosters with our faithful hounds for a return visit.

Stayed here for 5 nights (Sep 17-22). Check in was the better part: easy and friendly front desk although no acknowledgment of being a Bonvoy member (not big deal). However, I forgot to ask, and they did not give me the WiFi code; more on that later. Room was fine upon entering. But then started to notice things: dead light bulb, dust on the nightstands, top of the desk with peeled skin (wear and tear), and of course the TV. Now that is something from the 1990s: a 30 inch old TV, grainy picture, and a very limited number of channel with only BBC and a couple showing very old movies from 1980s. You can only watch SkySports at the bar but not in the room. The next day I ended up taking a shower in a puddle as the tub did not drain well. I told the front desk and the staff who happened to be the manager took very good notes and said he’d have it fixed right away. Well, after coming back in the evening, I checked the tub and sure enough still clogged so went down to the front desk and another staff member (appeared very embarrassed) spent a few minutes and then offered to change the room. So, after about 30 min fiddling with the reservation system on their computer we moved into another room. For some odd reason my 5-day visit was done under two reservations: 4 days as one and the last day as another one. On the 4th day reception called to move me into a suite due to the 2nd reservation. I talked to the Front Desk staff and offered that staying at the same room for the same rate was fine. The junior staff agreed as the room was available and started processing but then ran into a problem on their computer system. He asked his manager for help and he promptly rushed by, summarily waved his hand, completely ignored my presence, mumbled something like “it can’t be done,” and walked away. The junior staff was clearly embarrassed and apologized and said he'd ask another hotel manager to keep me in the same room. I asked for the manager’s name (Lloyd) and said that his behavior was rude, not professional, and not that of somebody in the hospitality business. Lloyd showed up after the room situation was resolved and apologized for his behavior. Frankly, nobody needs drama, disrespect, and being treated like a nobody. After all, I was a paying guest and a long time Marriott member!! New room was a copy of the old room except the drain was not clogged. Then the next day I noticed the bathroom bulb was dead. Called the Front Desk from room, but nobody would pick up. Within a span of 30 min I called several times but nobody would pick up, so I walked down to report it to the Front Desk. Problem was solved next day. And now the WiFi: could not find the WiFi code so later called the Front Desk but again nobody would pick up. Another in person trip down to the Front Desk and asked why they wouldn’t pick up. Answer: oh, we didn’t see the phone ring! Although I reviewed this hotel back in June, I thought I would give an update on our last, and definitely final, visit to this hotel. In July we stayed at the Sheraton for one night and parked our car at the hotel for 3 weeks. After midnight, when we had gone to bed, we heard a high powered car being revved and raced around the car park. Yes, someone was using the car park as a race track, using the cars parked there as the edges of the track! Someone else was taking pictures on their mobile phone. We contacted reception, who sent out a security guard and another member of staff. They, however, obviously knew the people racing the car and had a good laugh and joke with them before returning to the hotel, leaving the racers still revving their car and taking photos. I took photos too (attached). My wife was incensed by this total lack of interest from the hotel, and stormed down to reception. One of the people who had gone out to the car was there, plus the duty manager looking rather sheepish. They apologised with a grin on their faces and seemed to think that it was totally acceptable to them that this was going on as the people racing the car were members of staff!!! An incredible attitude. And it was obvious from their reaction that this was not a first time occurrence. Realising that we weren't going to get anywhere with the totally useless members of staff, and as by now the racers had left, we decided to raise the problems with a senior member of staff the following day. A couple of the managers we spoke to on the following day were disgusted at what had happened the previous night. Unfortunately they had already handed in their resignation as they weren't happy with the way the hotel is being run. So decide if you're happy to leave your car at a hotel that condones its staff using the car park as a race track and what damage they could do to your car. Remember, any damage to your car is not the responsibility of the hotel, even if it's their own staff who have caused the damage! Please read the other reviews regarding cars being damaged at this Hotel. I posted a review on the Marriott website and received a very defensive response from the front desk duty manager. She apologised for the fact that staff were racing cars in the car park but didn't seem to really take it seriously. This experience, combined with the non-working air conditioning in the bedrooms, the tvs in the bedrooms that often don't work, the gaffer-taped tatty old carpeting in the hallways, the scruffy pool area that is hardly ever swept clean, the downgraded quality of the Club Lounge and the withdrawal of the Club concierge service seems to be indicative of a company seeking to justify changing the branding of this hotel to one of Marriotts budget brands. However, they're still charging 4 star prices for a hotel that now struggles to give one star service. Shame on you Marriott for ruining a formerly very good quality hotel.
