Le Potin Gourmand

I have stayed here several times in the last ten years. This hotel remains consistently excellent with comfortable rooms, good food and wine. The staff are friendly & helpful, the service was good. It’s a short walk from the centre of Cluny so very easy to explore the town. If you are traveling south on the motor way via Macon it’s well worth the detour for an interesting location & a comfortable place to stay.

The Art Hotel is situated a couple of hundred yards or so from the centre of town, so is very convenient. It is in a wide-open residential area with lots of free parking opportunities, and there is an area of off-road parking just outside the front door. The hotel is a rambling old building and very nicely designed, with lots of smart furniture and trendy artwork in the public areas. Our room, which is simply described as a “comfort double” is very large and beautifully designed and furnished. It has a couple of substantial wooden beams for atmosphere; a large bed, sofa and desk. There is also a kettle, so it really does seem that France is finally waking up the the need to provide hotel guests with creature comforts! As one would hope, there is WiFi which, certainly in our room, was so slow and sporadic as to be practically useless. Breakfast was served in a pleasant dining room with an option for al fresco if it is warm enough. A previous reviewer mentioned something about service being a bit hit and miss and I can certainly see the point. I get the impression that staffing is very much at minimum levels here and whereas a young lady was at hand to explain the buffet, serve us coffee and make us some perfectly boiled eggs, a phone ringing elsewhere meant that she was absent when other guests arrived and had to work it all out for themselves. Breakfast itself was very good and in addition to our boiled eggs we enjoyed nice fruit salad, yogurt, hams cheeses, breads and pastries. The bottom line is that this is a very smart hotel, but lack of staff can make a slightly negative impression. On arrival, even though we were only fifteen minutes early for check in, we couldn’t get into the hotel because there was nobody there. The doors were unlocked at three on the dot! These staffing issues are relatively minor matters however and we were very pleased with the overall quality of this hotel and would certainly use it again.

Quel bon accueil !Déjà rien qu au téléphone, Maya donne envie de venir dans son établissement. Et cela se confirme quand on arrive ! On en prend plein les yeux ...hôtel qui a un charme fou et qui respire la quiétude... La décoration est de très bon goût, le repas délicieux et raffiné,la literie est top . C est un établissement que je recommande vivement à tout point de vue !

Nous avons passé une nuit avec dîner et petit-déjeuner dans cet établissement de charme. La cours intérieure apporte le calme, très agréable après la foule de la ville. J ai adoré la déco, le repas, le petit déjeuner étaient très bons et rien à redire sur l accueil.

Super week-end passé dans cet établissement de charme, l'accueil, le service, le dîner, le petit-déjeuner extra ,la chambre magnifique, vraiment nous avons passés un bon moment, une adresse à retenir

Zunächst das Positive: Das Hotel alles solches ist völlig in Ordnung, Zimmer ok, Parkplatz, Nähe zur Innenstadt. Richtig gut ist das (Abend-) Restaurant. Beste Küche & freundlicher Service. Hier *****. Nicht so ok: das Frühstück - wenn man um 09:15 Uhr um Croissant & Baguette betteln muss, ist das schon besonders. Die Croissants sind nie angekommen, das aufgebackene Baguette (in 🇫🇷!) widerwillig nach knapp 20 Min.. Ein Gruß zum Morgen oder beim Check out war dann wohl auch zu viel. Es sind solche „Kleinigkeiten“, die den eigentlich positiven Eindruck belasten. Übrigens… Probleme mit Hunden sollte man nicht haben. Es sind 3 im Haus unterwegs.

Hotel en restaurant. Het diner in het restaurant was heerlijk en de eigenaren heel gastvrij. We hadden de familie kamer. Dit in echt niet meer. Is niet meer van deze tijd. Geen dekbed maar een laken met een deken op een stoffige zolder. Het bed op een verhoging levensgevaarlijk in het donker.

Nous n’avons pas passé une bonne nuit. Nous déconseillons aussi le restaurant, très mauvais rapport qualité prix : guacamole industriel dans l’amuse bouche que l’on a retrouvé ensuite en entrée dans le ceviche ! Nous avions commandé un filet de bar et langoustine mais c’est du cabillaud que l’on nous a servi ! Lorsque nous avons signalé le point, plates excuses du personnel qui a prétendu qu’en fait le menu n’était pas à jour ! Mais le tout bien facturé 26€ et aucun geste commercial pour s’excuser. La cerise sur le gâteau c’est quand même lorsque le patron a « engueulé » une serveuse devant l’ensemble des clients du restaurant. Quelle belle soirée! Comme personne ne nous a demandé comment s’était passé notre séjour lorsque nous avons fait le check out, et que les patrons n’étaient pas présents à ce moment là, nous leur avons écrit un mail afin de leur faire part de notre retour en direct. Pensez-vous qu’ils auraient pris la peine de nous répondre ? Et bien non absolument pas. Hôtel et surtout restaurant à éviter donc.

Un hôtel de bric et de broc … sympathique de prime abord mais qui s’avère peu net, et qui aurait besoin, du moins en ce qui concerne la chambre que nous occupions, d’une bonne rénovation. Une salle de bain vétuste et peu hygiénique où l’odeur des moisissures et difficilement supportable… ( photos). serviettes propres et peignoirs mais les chaussons proposés étaient hors emballage… avaient-ils deja servi ? On peut se le demander…
