Vineyard Valley Inn

We needed a place to overnight on a longer road trip north, and the Inn caught our eyes. Even though it was only one night, we really enjoyed our stay. The Inn was likely built in the 1950s, since it had that motor court feel. But the exterior was immaculate, with nice large potted plants as accents. Desk staff was very friendly and accommodating, and it was no problem that our 75lb Labrador was with us. The room itself was also immaculate, quiet, and the furnishings were modern and in excellent condition. I’ve seen some reviews that complain about the room size (too small, too cramped), but the rooms were built in the ‘50s when there were probably two single beds in them and now there is a kingsize bed. If you want a huge room, do your research and stay at a chain hotel — don’t pick a quaint, local business and then complain. The bathroom was huge, well appointed, and very clean. Water pressure and temp were great (it’s a little thing, but we hate dribbling showers). I’m not an effusive reviewer, but we really enjoyed our stay here.

It's half a mile pleasant strol to Plank coffee house and Trading Post restaurant. Our room was small, quiet (one story helps) with a renovated bathroom - tiled shower instead of plastic bath cubicle. The owners have made an effort to enhance the place with plants in containers and a shady arbor with outdoor seats which we enjoyed. From there, although you are in a motel forecourt, you can see the hills around Cloverdale
