My family and friends stayed here for our wedding weekend. They served hot breakfast, had super friendly staff members, the rooms were really clean. We had a bunch of people going in and out of our rooms from makeup artists, photographers, videographers, and bridal party. We enjoyed our stay!

Having to make a trip to the area twice in one month for work, I was booked at HIE. I had a pleasant stay on both occasions. Hotel is well kept and furnished. Great breafast options. The front desk staff were all helpful and accomadating. In particular was Kathy who went above and beyond to provide her support and assistance. She was very helpful and patient when booking an extra room for my family on my return trip and provided a great recommendation to ensure I recieved the most cost effective reservation. I was also impressed with the quality of my sleep on their mattress. After a nights sleep I usually wake up with a tightness in my lower back, but I had no issues at all after a nights rest. After mentioning this to Kathy, she actually assisted in trying to locate the site where I could purchase their mattresses. When in the area, I would definitely stay here again.

Checking in was terrible, the concierge was overwhelmed that the hotel was at full capacity. The keys did not work to enter the room, I went back to the front desk where their were other guests complaining that their key would not allow them to enter as well, when entering our room we were upset by the smell of smoke as my daughter and I are asthmatic. I returned again to the front desk to voice my concerns regarding the smell of smoke and was told that the “facility is a non-smoking facility and that’s why we charge $250 if they smoke in the room”. I asked if she should come down and smell the room and she replied, “I am a smoker so I wouldn’t be able to smell/tell”. She then said, “you can just get some spray and spray the room”, she did apologize and said that “I could speak to the manager the next morning”! As well as apologizing for the “hotel being full and not being able to move us to another room”.
Around 10:00 pm, we heard someone trying to open our door, thank goodness I had it double locked. A few minutes later we heard talking and then someone knocking, I asked who is it? She replied, “hotel management “? We were already in bed. She then asked what was my last name? And left.
The next morning, day of check out, the breakfast area was at full capacity and in complete disarray, we arrived at 9:20 am, not much food in the serving dishes, when another guest asked if they were going to replenish, the staff replied, “no, it takes 35 minutes for the eggs to cook and breakfast is over at 10:00”. “You should have come down earlier”. With that response to the guests, my daughter and I decided to leave.
As I go to check out, I ask if the person checking me out is the manager, she replied, “yes”, she asked for my room number and when I told her she couldn’t find my information. HOWEVER, the night person had spoken to her regarding the smoke issue. To make matters even worse, she still couldn’t find where I had checked in. I had packed my car and asked if I could return and get my phone for the confirmation number, etc., when I went back in the “manager” said, “oh I found you”, “ I see you called and extended your stay for another night”??? That will be $173.??” By this time I’m extremely flabbergasted, not to mention late for the wedding rehearsal for my daughter. I said to this “manager”, no, I’m checking out today, I paid online and told her how much I had paid for the one night stay 11/25/22 checking out 11/26/22. Her reply WAS, “YOU WERE IN THE WRONG ROOM YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE IN ROOM 207”!'!!
By this time I was beyond flabbergasted and just angry! Again she asked what room I was in and I told her, her response even more Ridiculous…”so you are staying another night”? No, I stayed last night in room 105 which was not acceptable due to the smoke smell and was not the room that I had paid for, I did not stay in room 207 and I did not call you to extend my stay another night, could I please have my receipt? Here it comes….the manager replied, “IM SORRY I CANT GIVE YOU A RECEIPT BECAUSE YOU BOOKED ONLINE! “ AND, “If you had opened your door last night I told the girl last night that she could have given your money back so that you could have stayed somewhere else”. “I can give you 10% in coins for your next stay with us”.
At this point I was furious. No thank you!
I Would definitely not recommend this particular CHOICE HOTEL In Salisbury, NC.

Our room was clean, but the motel in general needs some upgrading and general maintance and cleaning. The hallways badly needed vacumming & carpets shampooed. The shower rod in our room was nearily falling off the wall. I had to push two loose screws back into the drywall for it to hold up the shower curtain so I could take my shower. The next morning we went down for breafast. There was no waffles or toast; we were told the toaster was broke; nothing warm or hot (except hot water for tea) and coffee. There was an orange juice and cranberry machine for juice. To their credit the next morning there was a new toaster with bread to toast.

We have stayed at this same hotel other trips. We have NEVER had an issue before and now THIS cluster of a nightmare occurred. The last time we stayed prior was in Jan 2020. Absolutely NOOO ISSUES PRIOR. Issue #1, we asked for a wake up call. I stood at the front desk and watched the night shift pull the clipboard from beside the computer and write it down. Next morning we didn’t receive a call. When questioned the morning girl she claimed it “wasn’t wrote down”. I told her where the clipboard was and informed her I watched. Her statement “well she didn’t say am or pm”. Really?!?! We asked close to 11 pm and checking out the next day. Lie #2…clean rooms. We had a blood spot on one of the pillows. We didn’t even complain. We were both wearing pajamas, and just threw the pillow to the side. Lie#3, my spouse has an actual ADA service dog. This is not some “emotional support pet” this is a dog that the VA pays for. He went to get a cup of coffee and a banana and was went off on for “having a dog”. We walked past as she was telling the manager “I didn’t know”. How did she miss 1.5 inch REFLECTIVE LETTERING “service animal”. We went down together since she had a problem with an ADA dog to eat to watch them have a “birthday party” song included for someone who was not even a guest. So others were eating that weren’t even guests. LIE #4, Noon checkout. After not having received our 0830 wake up we were pushed getting out and in the road. At 9:40 a maid was banging on our door. We asked her to come back. Every time we passed her she gave us dirty looks etc. NOON check out. Every bag etc she huffed and puffed and gave dirty looks. We left her a $20 tip on the dresser (maybe she was having a bad day), and checked out at 11:40 with a NOON deadline on the room. Nightmare over right…NOPE! The next day we got billed $250. When I contacted the hotel to ask why because the only thing we had not done was clean up some fur balls where the dog is currently shedding. We were told we were smoking in the room. Not know but **** no. We know exactly what we did and didn’t do in that room. Did we forget our leftovers in the fridge…yes. Was there dog hair…yes. Did we smoke…NO! Her response was “someone smoked in there maybe when you weren’t in there.” Really!?!?!? IDC we didn’t smoke! So I asked her what proof since I know exactly what we did and did not do. Her reply, “two managers smelled it.” You mean 2 managers of your lying staff…ahhh no…so as of right now while we dispute charges $208 for 1 night that they can’t even do a wake up call. $20 maid tip for huffy service and dirty looks. $250 for smoking when we DID NOT. So $478 for one night… GO TO GREAT WOLF LODGE at that price you can stay there cheaper with an indoor water park at a constant 80* temperature. DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE BILLED for crap you didn’t do, blood in pillowcases, and lies rather than even a simple “I’m sorry we forgot”. $478 Do yo
