Title copied from another reviewer who I totally agree with. Five guests ahead of me and it took 35 minutes waiting for my turn. To save your spot 1n the check-in line, you couldn't go sit on available lounge seats obviously. There were 2 check in stations but only one was in use by Michelle. Wait was so bad that I offered to come and open second service station just to get things moving. My local Autozone in Philadelphia salespeople greet every customer at the door but at no time did Michelle acknowledge guests or even attempt to explain long line to assure customers with ”I will be with you shortly” or ”apologies for the delay” or ”the storm crashed our computers” or similar. This leads me to conclude, with some accuracy that an extremely long check-in line is THE NORM at this location . . . . The hotel did have some good aspects, such as nice rooms and adequate gym facilities. However, they were totally overshadowed by the woeful first impression at check-in. Breakfast is also an EXTRA COST add-on i'e - not included in the daily room rate. At the very least, IHG should have added it as a freebie to compensate the guests for the long check-in. IHG must be unaware that most, if not all the guests are coming from a distance - such as a long drive and/or flight, COVID protocols at every stop, TSA rules, etc. By the time most people get to the hotel, the last thimg they want to deal with is another TSA or DMV-type line just to check in. TSA line is understood. DMV line also fully understandable. Long hotel check-in = unfathomable. If I were the front desk clerk I would start with: ”Welcome to Maryland, home of Chesapeake Bay. I do apologize for the long line, if you'd like to have a seat in our comfortable lounge chairs, please put your name on this list here and I will call you when it's your turn. How was your flight/drive? May I get you a chilled bottle of water?” Above will show compassion for your clients, get IHG a better review and soothe travel weary customers Unless IHG considers above outside of their capacity . . . Staying here for the second time, because the newest and largest hotel in University Park City is here, 2 bottles of mineral water are provided for free every day, and the housekeeping will be done every day without an order. It is very comfortable to live here for 6 days!
The hotel is similar to the domestic high-end fast chain brand, the room layout is reasonable, the facilities are advanced, and the bathroom mirror is also equipped with Bluetooth speakers. Very clean and the service is very intimate. The parking fee is 8$. In fact, it was discovered that McDonald's next door, cvs should be able to park for free. But it is said that Maryland is not safe, but it is only a little closer to the hotel.

Stayed for three nights during a conference. The ”cozy” room was clean, nicely decorated, and comfortable. Everything worked, but it was quite small -- cozy for one person, but crowded for two. It . Staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant fare was ok but not memorable; the menu is limited, and it's the same for lunch and dinner. The most memorable thing about the hotel is the artwork in the hallways and galleries on the conference side. They were not just the same-old-same-old pieces ordered by the dozen by a corporate office, but rather one-of-kind, curated works from the U. Maryland holdings. It's worth taking some time to wander and view everything from 500+ year old Chinese scrolls to 1950's photography from the American South. It would be nice if, like a museum, the hotel had a guide to the art collection.
This was a comfortable clean place to stay and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. This offset some of the downsides, particularly parking issues. The lot was full our first night, but an upper lot belonging to the University is ok to park in on weekends, as staff confirmed. The lot had plenty of spaces the next night. Our last night (upper lot NOT ok) there were 2 spaces but in such a tight spot we couldn't maneuver our long van into them next to other long vans with a retaining wall close by. Staff allowed us to park in a handicap parking spot since nothing else was available to fit. Good walkable location to many restaurants and some of the University. We were worried it might be too loud (room facing main road) but with the AC fan running on low it was fine. Please fix the pancake maker!
This hotel, although, conveniently located, is on a very, very, very busy street. Very close to the University, and a lot of fun places to eat and hang out, but it comes at the cost of being in an ever so slightly “shady” area. Once inside the hotel, you forget about all of it, and the staff do an excellent job of making you feel welcome and this older property. I will agree with some of the other reviewers that it is conveniently located to the green line, but we were unprepared for all of the fees associated with parking and riding in to DC. We wish we would have reserved parking lot in town and just driven.
The price is relatively high, the service and facilities are general, the location is about 15 kilometers from the White House, the morning is very simple, but compared to the price, this hotel can still choose.
This was a good location for a game at Maryland. The location is just off the beltway and there are some restaurants and other shopping within walking distance of the hotel. There was a security car parked in front of reception and this gave a good feeling. The parking lot is free. The rooms were clean and the linens smelled fresh. Reception was friendly with information. Seemed like a good location to stay overnight and catch a game at the University.
Next to Washington, Maryland, it takes 40 minutes to drive to Washington. There is everything around, and there is an IKEA. The hotel itself is very good, clean and friendly. The most commendable thing is breakfast, good taste, variety, is a rare breakfast at this price hotel.
You know how an excellent staff can make even an overnight in a roadside motel a fine experience, while a bad staff can ruin a high end expensive hotel splurge? Well that's the story here. Our family booked 2 rooms here for several nights to attend an event at University of Maryland. It's very convenient to UofM as well as Washington DC. 1 mile to the Green line Metro station. I spoke to several people before booking and arrival in sales and front desk. All were helpful and kind. From sales to the pool attendant all were friendly and helpful. At check in, Ashley and Mike went above and beyond to get us settled into proper rooms. Mike switched one room with a funky door lock but kept us together, helped move furniture and brought us an extra chair. Angie helped me extend one room when we were too tired to go. Best front desk staff over many trips. We had breakfast as early as 6:45 and late as 8:45. Mr. Damian kept the food stocked, hot or cold as appropriate, tables bussed and clean. But more than that, one of us has a food allergy and Damian took it seriously, read ingredient labels to make sure there were appropriate choices and that we know about them. He is an exemplary employee and lovely guy. As I'm writing this, front desk called to ask if I left an item in the dining room. I did, but hadn't even discovered it yet. Mr. Damian ran it up to me. There are a few minor issues in the room, but the bed was great, furniture fine and TV, while basic, was huge with good picture and sound. Cable and Wifi worked fine. Pull out couch better for a kid than an adult. We actually liked the roomy layout of the larger suite more than the one bedroom. One minor complaint. We didn't use housekeeping during our stay other than getting supplies from friendly housekeepers, but the rooms were not as clean upon arrival as one could hope. I wound up using paper towels to clean the tile floors in kitchen and bath area. That said, we will definitely come back here when visiting DC and hope Marriott takes note of the outstanding staff at the Residence Inn Greenbelt. Btw, we really liked Greenbelt itself. Every single person we encountered in restaurants and stores was helpful and friendly. Made the week very pleasant.
