We stayed here for 3 nights, and wish it was longer. Can't say enough great things about the room (we had a junior suite with a garden view; would go for a higher floor next time). After a drive up winding hilly roads to the front gate, we were met in the parking area for a short golf cart ride up to reception. While we waited to check in (we arrived a bit early), we enjoyed delicious orange spoon fruit, and gorgeous views of the surrounding property. The included breakfast buffet was insane, with a huge room filled with anything you could possibly want, much of it fresh from the resorts own gardens, including honeycomb from the apiary. There are two pools; we used the infinity pool near the pool bar (rather than the ”family pool”) but they both have fabulous views and comfortable loungers with towels. The only restaurant open during our non-weekend stay was Mouries, and we ate two excellent (though pricey) dinners there. Lunch was usually just a snack by the pool (see above re enormous breakfast buffet), and always delicious. Competent customer service at all meals, and at check in and check out, as well as at the spa. We had massages which were just ok, but the spa personnel were lovely and the space is gorgeous. There are goats, sheep, horses and donkeys on site, as well as a chicken coop. There are all kinds of activities onsite, but we didn't really partake, since we were in deep relaxation mode by the pool each day. Our last night we ventured out to see Monemvasia - just a short car ride and plenty of parking if you leave your car at the bridge and walk across. It took us about 25 mins to reach the city gate, and another 30 mins to walk up (the very slippery) stone path to the church at the top (the fortress is higher up). Dinner at a taverna at the bottom (Matoula) was good, with terrific sea view and a nice breeze. But, the highlight of our trip down to Monemvasia from Nafplio (about 3 hours) was staying at Kinsterna. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

Very distinctive homestay, with careful decoration. In the castle, it is more convenient to go shopping and eat, to watch the castle and see the sea. There is a kitchen but you can only make coffee and tea. You can't cook without a pot or stove. The car has to park outside the castle.

We booked a Superior Residence with Sea View for one day. The overall experience was great, especially the view was amazing. The room was clean, Chrisa was very helpful and also the apartment was very spacious. The kitchen was functional and there were plates and dishes, also a big fridge. Also the location was very good, only 7 min from the castle by car. The area is very quiet. We didn't use the air condition as it wasn't too hot. There were some minor issues like the furniture which were dated and there are some spots in the room which could be fixed or painted and there could be a tent in the balcony but nothing serious to affect our mood. The only easy fix that could improve the experience would be to install something like woven wire to the windows. I would chose it for my next visit in the area.

I was having trouble finding any hotel in Monemvasia that would allow one night’s booking on a Friday in October. One night is enough to enjoy the atmosphere of the castle and it would be a huge pain to leave with the car and park and hike in again. Likinia is located toward the back half of the lower town, a steep incline and several steps from the entrance gate. Pack accordingly. I only took my shoulder bag and found myself regretting that I didn’t unload everything I didn’t need to make my bag lighter. Our suite (No. 1 suite) was lovely. Located on the group floor. Very spacious. Decent size shower width wise, but a bit short and would be difficult for six-foot tall persons to manage. Only a handheld wand, which was not uncommon during our Greek hotel stays. We were thrilled to have a 500 ML bottle of wine waiting for us as well as some Cokes and waters. The included breakfast was decent enough the next morning. The staff we dealt with were very pleasant and accommodating. Only weird thing, there is an excavated hole with glass floor right at the entrance to the room. Lit up at night so you could see down in it which was a bit creepy, not unlike a vampire lair. I was able to avoid stepping on that spot the entire time. But my husband stepped there and lived to tell the tale. The old lady checking us in walked over it like it was nothing.
