Hotel Burg Schwarzenstein is beautifully located in the middle of the winefields in the German wine region Rheingau. The hotel is composed of 3 main buildings. The modern and up-to-date new building, which includes most hotel rooms, conference rooms and lobby, the modern pavilion with Müllers restaurant and the old castle with limited number of rooms and the (breakfast) restaurant. The city is logically more classic in style, but it also looks a little dated and has some late maintenance. A refreshment / modernization would be in place to take part in the high level of the rest of the hotel. The hotel rooms are very beautiful, spacious and luxurious. The facilities are stylish and all facilities available. The bathroom also has the same style and class! The lobby is also beautiful and stylish. The bar in the lobby is only a little amatorial, a drink card is missing, the staff have no drink knowledge, the range is underweight and the presentation is rough. With a few simple adjustments and attention, the beautiful lobby and the luxury hotel would also have a bar that matches its surroundings. Culinary is a good place in this hotel with 2 luxury restaurants both feeding a la carte. The breakfast is also a pleasant breakfast. A wide and luxury buffet with a lot of choice. Furthermore, a small menu card with the possibility of ordering fresh cooked meals such as mirror egg, omelet and pancakes. The service and staff are without exception friendly and professional. The check-in and check-out is effective! In short, we have had a great and luxury stay in this hotel. That this luxury also spoke its price for itself.

Recently stayed at this lovely small hotel which is very nicely located centrally in Rudesheim but far enough away from train noise or busy streets, although there is a bar opposite we were unaffected by any noise being located in a Comfort Junior Suite in the eaves of the hotel. Our suite consisted of a small sitting area and bathroom on the entry level and two bedrooms up a spiral stairway, this would be my main issue that you had to negotiate this stairs in the night if you needed the bathroom, plus the dressing table and storage area for the outer bedroom was also downstairs. There was a little dressing table and some shelves in the inner bedroom but storage is quite minimal so be prepared to live mostly out of your suitcase. However despite these issues the room had air conditioning, was spotless, beds were comfortable and bathroom well proportioned with lots of storage and a good hairdryer, there was also a good sized fridge which was very handy. Breakfast was served in the beautiful little restaurant which was unfortunately closed this year, there was also a nice little courtyard area where you could eat, we had a lovely lady waiting on us each morning and her helpfulness and friendly nature made up for the frosty unwelcoming woman who checked us in upon arrival. English speaking guests should be aware that it can be difficult to be understood, many staff have little English and learning a few basic German phrases would be helpful, this whole area is not really geared up for the English speaking market and is more aimed at native clients, this is reflected in the food also but that was fine we were there to experience something different and enjoyed the fare although asking for decaff coffee proved very difficult in some places its a bit of a rarity apparently! Overall we were very happy with our accommodation and thought it good value for money, maybe keep the frosty lady away from reception to ensure first impressions are true to the real hospitality of this charming hotel.

The wife and I just returned from an 11 night driving tour of Germany after 3 years and stayed as usual at this hotel in Rudesheim. It is very convenient if you have a car as the hotel provides free and adjacent parking to the building. It is situated about 30 miles from the airport and with normal traffic takes about 40 to 45 minutes to drive. The only drawback I must mention concerns traffic noise. The building is situated on the corner of 2 quite busy streets in downtown and the traffic noise can be bothersome. It is suggested than one try and book a room as far away from the streets as possible. Finally, and a significant feature for older folks like us with knee problems, there is an elevator/lift to combat stair climbing!

I'm not happy to write a negative review if you were allowed to experience such friendly staff. Unfortunately, this was really the only positive next to cleanliness and that is simply not enough. The hotel's equipment is extremely old and easy. When you enter, you are already sneaking a moderate smell. I fear this is due to the old tape floors. The rooms were very simple and very small and maximum old from the interior. It is unexplainable how this keeps a 4 star level. 4 stars are derived from defined standards that are objectively not given. Housekeeping was performed with the reference to Corona only after explicit demand and then, unfortunately, really only the minimum: towels exchange, some bath cleaning. No beds, no waste packaging, no clean tooth clean glasses. We have been in more than 5 different hotels in different countries in the last few months. Corona-related restrictions on daily room cleaning are nowhere else. The full price is paid, but the cost of staff is significantly reduced. It is also strange that breakfast at our first morning (Friday) is much less and worse than the following days. Fridays the selection was minimally small. Saturdays and Sundays it was far better, but still rather simple. We paid 200 € per night for our room. This price is just a freak. As I said at first, the staff was very friendly and kind, so I regret my negative review.
