Civitel Akali Hotel

The hotel has 4 stars but I am giving it a full credit for many things which are listed below. As many people mentioned, rooms are not as great as on the website, however it's not a tragedy! Our double bed was huge with fresh bedding every day, the room was cleaned daily and new towels were left in the bathroom. We were not run out of anything as all stuff like shampoos, soaps, etc. were replaced by cleaners. The room had LCD TV with English channels, small fridge, AC, hair dryer and lots of different light settings (good if your "second half" wants to read a book before a sleep). The balcony was not huge and there was one table and two chairs. Staff of the hotel is mostly very young with keen to help others. There arranged a car rental for us with good price and they were always very helpful. Akali hotel has wifi connection from every room without any password. There are also 2 quite new PCs at the ground floor with a printer for guest usage - they are keep clear of any viruses and you can browse internet with Mozilla in Private Mode (nothing (passwords, history, cookies) will be stored at the computers). The pool is small (up to 1,5 m deep) but it's clean and tidy. Breakfasts were jolly good! We could choose from Original Cretan Food and Continental. The buffet was always full and there was at least one member of staff waiting with coffee jug to top up our cups. Location - it's not in the old town centre but it's about 10 minutes walk from there. Overall, the hotel deserves for 4 stars, however I am giving it a 5 stars because my experience was not as negative as other people's reviews. Very good value for money!

The hotel is bear to the Old town(it can be reached by feet) , the personnel is very kind and everything is brand new and clean , service is wonderful and breakfast is delicious, definitely a hotel to keep in consideration if you visit Crete , i’ll be back for sure .

A lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff!! Good breakfast selection and clean comfortable rooms! Lovely pool area too. Even though this is a good location as it is only a short walk to the beach and central Chania, it is on a very busy road. The surrounding area is very run down with lots of derelict buildings and lots of graffiti everywhere! It was quite a welcome surprise to walk from this area to the beautiful cobbled streets with the gorgeous tavernas and shops and the harbour, all only a 10 minute walk away! I would definitely recommend this hotel but just be open minded about the appearance of the area surrounding the hotel!

Excellent 'town' hotel ideal for either a business trip (myself) or a holiday spot for sightseeing around Chania and its neighbouring areas. Rooms were very clean, tidy and well appointed, decent size bathroom with good rain shower. Breakfast was good, typical greek fare with addition of a few 'western items' but all fresh and well cooked. The restaurant area was immaculately clean and comfortable to eat in. Staff were extremely helpful and polite in all areas of the hotel. I will be returning to Chania next september for the NMIOTC conference and will definitely stay here again.

Dear staff at Akali hotel. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. We arrived in the middle of the night on the 5th of August after Icelandair cancelled our flight home to Iceland. They sent over 100 people in buses to different hotels for the night and told everyone things where taken care of. We arrived with our young daughter exhausted. The young man in reception helped us book for the night after getting confirmation from the airline/airport that they where required to do so. We stayed in a wonderful junior suite, got to stay until 22 the following day until our cancelled flight finally was going home, served us dinner and treated us like the most special people in the world. It was only for the night but the service and the friendly staff just saved us on the horrific ride home to Iceland. We loved this hotel, love Creete and so so highly recommend to everyone. Plus the location was amazing. Thank you from the family in Iceland who's flight was cancelled :)

Everything was just perfect! The service, location, room quality, food etc. Would definitely recommend. The old town was just a few minutes away so we could walk everywhere easily. We wanted to rent a car and the staff was very helpful and did it for us. The hotel had free parking too, which was a big plus since the area was very crowded. The room was very modern and comfy, and the ac worked perfectly. I also wanna thank the hotel staff, everyone who worked there was extremely nice and helped us with everything we asked for. This was our first trip to Crete and the hotel definitely played a part in making it the most enjoyable and unforgettable experience. We'll know what hotel to book the next trip we make here! ＜3
