Relais Osteria Dell'Orcia

Castiglione d'Orcia|2.35km from city center
I have posted negative reviews, but rarely and only when I think it will keep someone else from being harmed. So if you are contemplating a stay at Osteria dell'Orcia, read this first. When it was time to book, the first call to the hotel was answer by Silvano the owner with a very cheerful “good morning.” So upbeat and cheerful that it felt like the soul of two millennia of that famous Italian hospitality was embodied in this man. A few logistical missteps on his part changed everything. It began when Silvano’s driver Francisco failed to show up at the airport in Rome to meet me and my elderly mother. I am sure there is a side to their story but I can’t imagine what it is. The pickup, flight information, hours, everything was clearly documented in email exchanges with both Silvano and directly with his driver. It probably had something to do with my afternoon flight being one hour late, information that was shared with them by email (twice) more than 6 hours before my scheduled arrival. Not to belabor this but when I called Silvano and inquired about where to find his driver, he went on a tirade that exhibited well known qualities of a clinically bipolar person. Not only did he not propose a solution but he told me not to come to his hotel and he made several more furious, mostly incoherent statements. We found lodging in Rome. I tried to call Silvano again to understand what had happened hoping that if there was a misunderstanding it could be smoothed over. He uttered something in Italian and then hung up on me. The next day I received an email from Francisco the driver who was supposed to meet me. It was a photograph of a menacing man who looked like Che Guevara showing his teeth. Underneath him was printed Sto Cazzo. Google translated that as F**k You. Be forewarned. You are dealing at this hotel was an unstable cast of characters. --, feel free to contact me here and I’ll be glad to share the entire email chain with you. In the meantime, why expose yourself to a wolf no matter how blithely he’s dressed in sheep’s clothing. The spa town has many other appealing hotel options.

Agriturismo la Piaggia Vivo d'Orcia - "once Upon a time" Apartment - 3 Guests

Castiglione d'Orcia|8.44km from city center
Rental basis: Entire house or apartmentNumber of bedrooms: 2; Number of other rooms with beds: 0Taxes of City tax 1 EUR Per adult / day may be collected during the booking process. If this is not supported, they must be paid to the host upon arrival. This apartment is on the first floor. To reach the entrance, it is sufficient to climb a small flight of external stairs. It is a rather large apartment consisting of a living room / kitchen, where the original stone fireplace and the embers "stoves" that were once used have been left; 2 large bedrooms (one double and one single) and a bathroom. Independent entrance. The kitchen is equipped with everything needed for cooking (pots, utensils, lids, etc.) and eating (plates, cutlery, glasses, etc.)The fireplace is functional and freely usable by guests. Wood is available and is located outside the structure. It is a deliberately "rustic" apartment, typical of the Tuscan countryside, in fact we have not placed any armchairs or sofas inside.A faithful reconstruction of the old "sink" was made; we kept its shape and put curtains instead of doors (both above and below). Even the gas hob was built in masonry trying to respect the style of the apartment and we also placed (under it) the curtains at the post of the doors. There is no air conditioning because the large walls of the structure ensure a pleasantly and naturally cool temperature. The structure is entirely surrounded by greenery, fields and woods, where it is possible to take pleasant walks; in the large garden it is possible to relax, read a book. In the evening the external lighting is switched on automatically.Outside the structure, at guests' disposal there is a brazier and a charcoal barbecue (charcoal is available). There are tables (even indoors) for eating and deck chairs for relaxing and perhaps sunbathing. The property is surrounded by a large garden. Relais Osteria Dell'Orcia

Castiglione d'Orcia|1.89km de Chiesa di San Sebastiano

We stayed 5 days in September in this spectacular villa. The house is beautiful both inside and out, the view over the Tuscan hills is phenomenal and the pool is perfect (a bit cold, but after the initial shock the water is very pleasant). I would recomme
