La Playita

La Playita is a diamond in the rough. It’s a small hotel that has a very chill vibe and amazing customer service, 10 star service. I’d like to mention Gileen (I’m pretty sure I’m spelling that wrong), she was fantastic! Greeting us at the door and showing us around, recommending places to eat and helping us make sure we had a cab ride to the airport at 1am! Alberto has an amazing gem in her! While there’s no direct beach access, 2 beaches are just steps away and the sitting area is right on the water, making for beautiful mornings with coffee and fruit. Sunsets on the roof overlooking the beach were fantastic. If I come back to San Juan, I will definitely stay at La Playita. I am curious to see the improvements the owner and staff are working on.

La playita was inexpensive relatively speaking. It is not luxury, so if that is what you are looking for, move on! It was not in the perfect condition but for a place to sleep, it was sufficient. I traveled with my boyfriend for just about a week and did not spend too much time at the hotel, but when we got back, our room was cleaned, we got fresh towels and beach towels which was very nice especially since we didn’t have to pack beach towels for ourselves. The continental breakfast was exactly as indicated, fruit pastries and coffee. We ended up grabbing breakfast elsewhere but if you like a morning snack rather than a meal, this would fit. Location was great, so close to airport, every now and then you’d hear a plane but it wasn’t awful sounding. Located on 2 beaches, one for sunrises and one to watch sunsets. One is more calm, and one has bigger waves for beginner surfing or just playing in waves! Felt safe at night. Parking was fine if you had one of the 6 spots that la playita offers. Depending on the time of day will say if you get street parking or not. We came back at 10:30 pm at night and did not have a spot that the hotel offers, every other time we had one of their spots, which was great. I had few interactions with staff but when I did they were pleasant. check out was at 11, I told the owner our plane doesn’t leave till the afternoon and he allowed us to stay with a small fee! I would recommend this hotel if you are the type to just use this place to sleep.

This hotel has been recovering from some pretty substantial hurricane damage, so there is no longer a rooftop restaurant or bar. However, the breakfast they provide is perfect - good coffee, fresh fruit and pastries. And the staff is very helpful and friendly.

Amazing trip all around! Alberto treated us so well and upgraded our room for our anniversary. The location is amazing. Walk out the front door of the property and right in the beach. The sandwiches, rolls, and delicious coffee paired with the view every morning was the perfect start to the day. If you are looking for luxury, this is not it, but convenience, cleanliness, amazing host and affordability this is the best bang for your buck! We will be back again!

Was easy to find...close to beach...very calm.. Staff was great and helpful...got in at 1am and staff took care of us Wish they had a vending machine for snacks and drinks... that would would have been awesome

Wow, this place was amazing, from the welcome greetings to the beautiful view of the ocean. This place is extremely affordable if you are thinking of going to PR. All Ubers are available around, the beach is at the corner, and restaurants are close too. Do not feel afraid of walking around alone in the hours of 10am-6pm it feels really nice. I love the staff especially Maria she is really great and attentive to everything, whether you needed towels to getting a cleaning service. Everything is nice, please I recomend! Maria also did the favor of decorating the room due to my boyfriend surprising me for our anniversary! She did amazing. We will be back soon!

I liked the location. Restaurants ate close waliking. I liked the beach, beautiful. I did not like the problem for parking.

The property is very conveniently located, it’s right across the street from the beach. The lobby is gorgeous with lush greenery and the back patio overlooks the ocean. My room was large with a huge bathroom with a big walk-in shower and plenty of hot water. I had a fridge and a microwave in my room. The staff is absolutely wonderful. The only thing is that the “continental breakfast” was awful. Stale, tiny cinnamon rolls, saltines, apples, oranges and biscotti. The only redeeming quality was that the coffee was good with plenty of sugar both white and raw brown. I’ll definitely be back!!

I loved the personal touch that Alberto added. Welcoming us like family members into his small hotel. Him and the rest of the staff was very accommodating. We needed a crib for our baby and there it was. Although the building itself is from 1959 and visibly antique, it has unique beauty that no modern hotel can offer. This is not a fancy hotel but I felt safe and cozy.
