"We paid extra for the view over the citadel and ocean which was worth it. Hotel has that new smell to it so ultra clean. Amazing tapware in bathroom. Loved the push button shower operation. Stayed in many hotels, that was a first. My advice get up early and walk the citadel when no one is about. Then back to hotel for the splendid buffet breakfast which was excellent value. I went up the road to the beach called Plage du Roncu as I love ocean swimming. It was ok. A better option over the road is a better swimming spot. Calm bay. Two access points both a goat track. One below the carpark to the left and one a wee way up the road. Lots of families make there way down. Its launch off the granite rock which are massive along the shoreline. Crystal clear water. From hotel a short stroll to all the varied restaurants and shops."

"The hotel is beautiful; however, I would not recommend and would not go back. FYI (decide for yourself): - Screaming children at the pool every day, all day. If you have screaming children, I assume this is a pro. For us, a con. - There are charges for many things which was unexpected given its a 5* hotel, for example 9 euros additional for eggs, 20+ euro for shuttle to town, 20+ euro for beach chairs. Cons: - Concierge!!: 1) 1 one month before arriving I asked the hotel to arrange a dinner reservation for us on our last night. They did. On the day of the reservation, the restaurant called the hotel to confirm, the hotel called us, and we said yes, we're going. The hotel did NOT call the restaurant back to confirm. So, we drove 20 min to the restaurant where they explained they did not have space for us. La Villa had several times (including night prior) made reservations for guests who did not honor them at this restaurant which is a small operation. After standing there awkwardly for 45 minutes calling the hotel and restaurant, the restaurant was kind enough to accommodate us at a make-shift table. 2) The day prior, we asked the hotel to arrange a reservation for us in the morning. They did not call us until 6pm (why did this take all day). When they called they said its not possible, there is no space. We walked right up to the restaurant and were seated immediately. 3) Another restaurant recommendation we got was not good (less bothered by this as its subjective). - Screaming children Pros/highlights: - lunch at hotel pool - cocktails - breakfast each morning - views, cleanliness - received a free room upgrade due to a cancellation - free parking and EV charging"

"Solo traveller but part of an organised tour. The hotel is in a great location, a short walk to the station should you want to enjoy the small Corsican trains and many do. You can get from Calvi to Ajaccio but you will need to change trains, worth the trip and not expensive for the journey. The port front is just a little further with a wealth of places to eat and buy supplies. The citadel is also easy to reach from the hotel. The hotel is on a quiet road and there is parking opposite the hotel. Warm welcome and the staff really cannot do enough for you. My room was on the front, blackout curtains mean you can keep any light out. Rooms have a good bathroom, tea/coffee in the room with kettle and coffee machine. Safe and plenty of storage. There is a beautiful pool, with loungers and a raised bar seating area to relax in the sun too. The drinks etc are not cheap but they are reasonable I thought overall for the comfort and service. There is a lift to the rooms and the food in the restaurant is very good. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation."
