Apartamentos Cala d'Or Playa

This hotel is superb! Nice location with short walk to beach, restaurants and bars however the animation team are second to none! They take the time and effort to go above and beyond for every child, ensuring everybody has an amazing time. Despite this they also put on great evening shows which are far superior to shows we’ve seen at bigger resorts. They really make this place!

This is our 4th time visiting this hotel since 2018 and needles to say it didn’t disappoint yet again. The rooms and hotel were spotless as usual and you always see staff buzzing around cleaning everywhere/everything throughout the day. Only thing that has changed in relation to housekeeping is towels are only changed on housekeeping days which is every other day now. I never realised and threw all our towels into the shower🤦🏻‍♀️ This was quickly resolved and you could request fresh towels at any time between cleans. This was our first year experiencing the pool slides and they are a very welcome addition! Be aware these are closed for 30-60minutes for the life guard to have their lunch. The pool itself is very clean and there were always available sun beds although I’m not sure if this would be the case during the height of the summer holidays. As usual people do leave their towels all day and although there are signs up stating this isn’t allowed- it’s difficult for staff to monitor this. I witnessed people (not staff) move guest towels claiming the beds had been left for a long period of time…..only to see that these poor people had left their towels to use their pool and all their belongings had been thrown onto a random chair! The entertainment team were fantastic and went out of their way to keep the kids happy and entertained through the day and night. They are always saying hello whenever they pass and work extremely hard. They bring additional evening entertainment into the hotel on the evenings that the staff are having a well deserved day off- this was painful to the ears and certainly not worth the watch! We went half board as it cost us less for half board than self catering(?!) The breakfast was lovely and fresh every day. Fresh coke omelettes were available daily. The evening meals were different every night but I wasn’t too keen on the food in the evening. It was easier for us with 3 young children but I think we will go self catering next time. Overall we had an amazing holiday yet again And will be sure to be returning

Visited for 5 days mid July. It was our daughters birthday and our wedding anniversary which we had mentioned when booking and we got Prosecco and treats for my daughter in the room which was a lovely touch. We had a superior room over looking the pool and couldn’t fault it. Comfy bed, and a Nespresso machine which was good as we took our own pods or you can buy them from reception. We got there at 11am and could check into our room straight away which was great for a shorter stay. We also kept our room on the last day til 2pm with being repeat guests. The entertainment as usual is very good for families and the Neon pool party which just fell on the same night as my daughters birthday was fantastic! She loved swimming in the pool at night and jumping through a neon hoop. The kids were given glow sticks. There was a bouncy castle on sone nights and great games played with the kids at the mini disco. Also a parrot show with very clever parrots! My daughter absolutely loved all of this and it’s a strength of this hotel to provide such good entertainment. Because the restaurant has open air covered seating we could finish our meal whilst she had fun. We went half board and this is the area where the hotel just lost a star for me. We also visited in 2014 and 2021 and felt that the variety and quality of food had slipped slightly. Breakfasts the bread choice was quite basic, good enough but there used to be delicious large baguettes to cut up and big hot croissants to eat. I don’t think this is the hotels fault but rather comes down to those people who decide to make themselves packed lunches from the breakfast buffet. There were leaflets on every table warning against doing this and that it would be classed as shop lifting which is fair enough. Evening meals again most likely reflect the price paid but we did have some nice paella. Lastly sunbed reserving has reached a new height and umbrellas are in short supply. We enjoyed our stay. Shout out to Rudi and Sam the bar man, they work so hard! Thank you.

Wow. What an amazing experience we have had for our first family holiday! I was quite nervous going on my first family holiday with my daughters who are 2 and 4. Specially since covid we was scared of the unknown. The hotel is absolutely amazing. Very clean! Our room was in perfect condition. It was very close too the pool and the lift as we needed for the pushchair. All the staff was absolutely amazing from the bar staff,kitchen and the animation team. I never seen anyone work so hard. All so caring and lovely and work VERY hard. I have to say the animation team was absolutely insane. They go above and beyond for every individual in the hotel! Throughout the whole day they made sure all the kids was entertained! From pool party, parrot shows! Mini disco every night! Amazing singer and dancing. Big shout out too the animation team shemira,Blanca chocolate ( another girl beginning with A and another guy! Sorry not 100% sure what they’re names are!) Hopefully see you next year! Actually stayed May 2022, so i am very late writing this review. But i feel so strongly... that i have to write. The animation team in the kids club at this hotel in 2022 were FANTASTIC. If you have a child with ASD they are so inclusive, encouraging, and friendly. I will return to these apartments - even just for the animation team!! The kids club is run by the pool also, not hidden away, so you can keep an eye on .. or help with your child if needed. They also provide a kids show/mini disco every nigh and they have themed shows too. Lovely coctails in the bar mojitos etc. The food was tasty in the restaurant. The room was clean and there was a room safe. There was a TV which was a bit fiddly, but we were out a lot. The beach at cala d'or in May was windy and had quite a few waves, so it was fun but you do eed to watch your kids. it was busy too. Sofa bed was not comfortable at all, just thick sponge which is great for 'making forts' in the room!. Fridge and hob is grand. Air Con works well. its close to the beach. Reception staff were helpful and friendly. We didnt really meet any other Irish people outside of our hotel. A lot of Dutch people in Cala d'or.

Another amazing stay at Cala d'or Playa this year. As usual Rudy, Samuel, Andrea and Cynthia were attentive for meals and drinks. We had breakfast this time and it was brilliant, with such a good selection available. The Animation team put on the best shows and entertainment throughout the day so big thanks to Choco, Angela and the team. The rooms, hotel and pool area are always clean and welcoming. Felipe is such an asset on reception, always helpful. Mark and I will certainly visit again! 😊

The apartment hotel is recommendable. Good apartments . Good size, good suited and clean. Huge balcony. We took half board which is really recommendable. Breakfast and dinner is very good for that price. What is really positive to tell is the animation at this hotel. The shows are super great and a big thank you to the team. Great job.

We we very impressed with this hotel and would happily return. The hotel is excellently located within 5-10 minute walk to the town centre and sandwiched between two beautiful alcoves beaches with amenities also within a 5 minute walk. Check was extremely quick and easy and the room comes with a safe which you pay a small deposit and small daily fee for. Beds were comfy and usual apartment kitchen utensils etc provided. Rooms are made up every second day with bedding & towels changed and floors mopped & tidied. Rooms come with decent air conditioning unit also and balcony with table, chairs and clothes drying rack. The bar and buffet services were great with a daily changing food offering with more than enough to cater for all…picky kids, vegetarians etc….plenty of choice. The bar manager Rudi was brilliant and would provide table service for drinks and the service was efficient. We found all the hotel staff to be very friendly indeed. The entertainment team were fantastic with a different show each night and a kids disco right after dinner every night so the kids also had some evening entertainment before bedtime. The entertainment team were also running the poolside daily activities for the children and there always 2/3 activities planned in everyday. I have to say the entertainment team and the hotel staff were outstanding with the kids, always friendly and accommodating to the children and also the parents. We found this hotel to be perfect if you are looking for a rest in a clean tidy, modern hotel in a quiet area where the kids are kept busy all day in the pool or poolside where you can also keep an eye on them from your lounger by the pool or barside table. The attitudes and service of the staff are what you take away from this place along with its modern fresh design and features. If we come back to Cala D’Or we’d absolutely stay here again

Second visit to the apartments, booked direct B&B basis. The hotel does everything really well, it is very family friendly complex with exceptional staff. The 3 members of the animation team are fantastic, mummy girl Hope isn’t normally in to the activities but not on this occasion. The bar staff notably Rudy were great. If you book direct with the hotel you get a great price and I got the exact 2 rooms I requested. We will be back Paul, Sarah, Gracie, Hope and Papa
