Sol Cala d'Or

Room 527 - attic room. Dogleg stairs on entry very steep with low ceiling to crack your head. Then there is only standing room in centre of room as room slopes both side Pool - if you look at the tiles they have mouldy sludge throughout never seen the pool cleaned the whole time we were there. The floor surrounding the pool full of muddy sludge. See photos. Jacuzzi - green like a swamp. Whole roof area again filthy. Cleaning - room cleaned twice during our visit and sheets simply remade with same sheets. We knew this as we were bitten badly in the beds and only in the beds and the blood spots remained after each “clean” Ants - the room is infested with ants. When we asked for a room with less ants we were advised they would clean the ants. They didn’t even visit that day. Reported a further 2 times after this. Nothing done. One staff said yeh we have a big problem with ants. The Tramp - an elderly homeless gentleman came to the pool. 2 shoelaces wrapped round his legs. He stunk as he walked by everyone round the pool. He then pulled a pair of trousers over his heavily degraded shorts and got in the pool he then *****ped from the clothes and rang them out basically washing his filthy clothes by the pool. One guest reported him and we were told that he always comes and he’s harmless. What sort of a manager allows a homeless man to wash himself and his clothes in the pool infront of paying guests and thinks this is acceptable. He may well be harmless but it was a disgusting spectacle and it does not look very respectful to the paying guests. He went on to play air guitar on his tennis racket to then lay on his back outside the hotel scraping sludge off the floor with a card which was some other mess he had made. Show some respect to your paying customers it’s really not rocket science. The 1 hour happy hour once a week on a Saturday is a joke 3-4pm we didn’t see this time once. Overall the worst place we’ve ever stayed. Badly managed. Mistreated hotel that could be nice given some common sense and effort.

Second time we have visited these apartments. Love them our kids are 16 and 10. They loved them too. Fantastic WiFi all hours of the day was their favourite bit 😂. One bedroom apartments are plenty big enough when the sofas are made in to beds. Last year we stayed in room 123 and asked for the same room. The hotel obliged with giving us 124 which was just as good and on the ground floor. No fights for sun beds. Yes people reserved but at 10am you could still get them for 4 people together. Breakfast spot on and until 10.30 which is good. Pool bar great and nice food. Large beer was €3.5 euros which you don’t find often in cala d’or. Great price. Great location and a lovely pool. Staff always very helpful and the cleaners brilliant. Will be back!!!

My husband and I stayed for a week end of June in a change to our usual holiday style. We always tend to go all inclusive as it is easier and also never visit Spain as my husband finds alot of the locals to be quite rude to us as brits. Due to this we haven't been to Spain since 2017. Prior to arrival I emailed the hotel directly and requested a high floor and quiet room as I have trouble sleeping. This was accommodated with no fuss and upon arrival we had been assigned a lovely room on 5th floor with a pool view and it was, as promised, very quiet. The rooms are modern, spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Pool area is magnificent and I could not heap any more praise on the staff. Everyone we encountered was polite, friendly, helpful and they work so hard. The day before we were due to checkout I received a call in my room to advise I had been randomly selected to spend my last night in a suite and to get complimentary breakfast which I thought was a nice touch and very kind. The suite was lovely and you have double the space set over 2 floors with 2 balconies. Perfect for families or a group of friends. Breakfast was very nice and much better than I expected. They had everything, pastries, toast, continental, many fresh chopped fruits aswell as cooked options. Excellent hotel. So good infact we have booked to come and stay again in October. Thank you for a wonderful holiday. Excellent location and everything was faultless. 5 stars.

It was pretty shabby to be honest. Very dated and old-fashioned. Shuttered windows so the only way to let light in is to leave the apartment open to the street. Pool area was OK. Didn't have much to do with the staff apart from check in and checking out. Breakfast is very basic.

Great stay at these apartments. They are well equipped with all you need for a self-catering holiday. Staff are lovely all over the complex. The pool area was well furnished with plenty of beds. We never struggled to find one. We had an issue with a leaking air conditioning unit during our stay, and this was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Plus, we were offered a free breakfast as well. Excellent service! When the AC failed for a second time, the staff on Reception went over and above and offered us a day and night at their 5* sister resort, just round the corner! This was the perfect way to end an already great holiday. Highly recommended.

Clean, basic accommodation with a central location. Comfortable bed and apartment cleaned regularly. Studio apartment was spacious and sufficient balcony area. Great pool. Breakfast didn't provide a great variety of hot food options.

Great October stay, weather fantastic! Apartment clean with everything required. Location is perfect and just out the way of the busiest areas. Noise from local karaoke bar heard, but got used to it and didn’t stop anyone sleeping. Unfortunate that while we were there a child keep pooing in the pool and it had to be completely shut twice. If the management insisted on young baby swim nappies it would help. Lifeguard has his work cut out with people not obeying the pool rules with children. Pool is absolutely freezing. Other downside is the shallow end is small, meaning that 75% of the pool is too deep to swim in if you’re not great at swimming. Shallow end busy with loads of kids obviously, I get why but no room for swimming in that end. Stairs and slopping corridor’s may be an issue with elderly or disabled folk. Our apartment did seem to face a house of multiple occupation, with unsavoury people in and out of it all times of the day/night. Didn’t always feel comfortable sitting on the balcony overlooking that. 7 days long enough to cover the area and felt we did all it has to offer.

Have just returned from a week's stay at the Sol Cala Dor apartments with our 2 grandchildren. We arrived late at night for our stay and were given our apartment. We had paid extra for our apartment and on our first night asked if we could change rooms but was told to ask in the morning but the hotel was full. We found our apartment 306 was on two floors with main bed and bathroom upstairs and children's beds downstairs. The stair case I'd open slatted wooden painted steps which I wasn't happy about for the young uns having to negotiate in the night if they needed to use the toilet etc in the night. The stairs are also a nightmare for negotiating with large suitcases. The views from this room is onto the street and rooftops of nearby buildings. So even paying for upgrade doesn't get you a better view. Many rooms on this side of hotel had roof top and street views. As the hotel was full we had to make do. I wouldn't have booked this room or hotel had I known. The other issue is the lift... nightmare and could cause injury. Where as if a lift door closes as you try to enter they normally open up again quickly once it comes into contact... not this one. Twice got trapped with the door as 4 of us got in and the door motor keeps trying to close and makes a loud whirling noise... Also watch the gap on the floor between lift and mail floor by the door. Wide and breaks suitcase wheels. The pool. Nice large pool. No inflatables allowed except tight fitted ones aiding swimming. Although pictures show in full sun... half the pool was always in shade as its surrounded by high buildings on all 4 sides... so half sunbeds in shade. I'm sure in main summer may get full sun. .. Bar, pleasant bat staff... and snacks available. Oh the shower in room. Hot water in morning. Teatime onwards water always cold... Location was OK near plenty of bars cafes etc. The hotel closes this weekend so many places now closing for the season

We've just got home from a 4 night stay in Sol Cala D'or appartments, this is a great place to stay, we had a studio apartment overlooking the pool which was gorgeous, very clean complex, the staff were lovely and friendly, it was only 5 mins walk to the centre, we would highly recommend these apartments
