Edge Apartments Cairns

It would have been nice to have known there would be building works happening (drilling etc) in the complex. Came here for a bit of R&R with the kids. The bedrooms were not very clean, carpets dirty with stains. Very dusty, lots of sneezing happening at bedtime, dust ++ in the bedrooms. There were cockroaches crawling up the walls, mostly came out at night.

The manager of the property is friendly and welcoming. The apar**ent is spacious. However, I have to say the apar**ent is bit of disappointing. I understand the weather during the time is humid and wet due to raining. But there is cockroaches in the bedroom and ants on the bed. So maybe need to do some pest control before opening to guest? Also the room is not bright and is bit dark all the time. Moreover the bed sheets is bit of dirty as well. Toilet is clean which not an issue, but it is bit old and wardrobe is old as some places is broken need to upgrade or fix. Usually because we have kids, even it is not 5 star hotel or anything but at least I think clean and tidy is the very important thing for the accommodation. It is also bit of misleading on the advertisement because overall I do not think it should count as 4 star apar**ent OR it needs to put the correct photos for which room is related to. Also, this is not the walking distance to the city central and you need to have a car for more convenience otherwise you need to take taxi or other transport; so please be aware of.

It has 2 outdoor pools and spacious air-conditioned apar**ents. COMMENT In June 2023 We found our apar**ent 205 for 10 days to NOTt to be of 4star standard at all. PRO: The bedlinen and bathroom towels were very clean and of good quality. The air conditioning worked. The ceiling fans worked. The apar**ent was spacious. The fridge worked but bottom of door shelving missing. Inconvenient if you wanted to store water bottles etc. CONS: ” Each unit at the Edge has a flat-screen TV”., which was NOT working and had to be re-connected by guest. “Free Wi-Fi” NOT available in unit 205 – we were informed by office unless you wanted to stand outside of office area to connect. Apar**ent was dark, - lighting in all rooms inadequate and woefully dim and outdated. Lighting in laundry area was badly positioned – and here there were no instructions on how machine worked. *Vertical Blinds in poor state and need maintenance or replacement. *All doors (screen and glass sliding) need maintenance to run smoothly. *The furniture was inappropriate (apart from 2 leather sofas) and badly arranged. *The ambience was noisy. The decor throughout the apar**ent – wasn’t.!! Except 2 pictures hung almost at ceiling. – 1 small mirror in dark hallway., and a wall clock. (All 15 years or more in age) *No rugs or furnishings to soften the décor or the echo sounding throughout the apar**ent. *Coffee table in bad state. *Dining table satisfactory but serviced by 2 different types of chairs. *The bathroom needed maintenance/upgrade (and pictures I have taken show much damage to outer base of shower, mould along the wall.) *The kitchens come equipped with very basic essentials. A microwave and dishwasher., utensils for cooking on very old worn stove. “Some units have balconies with sea or mountain views”, others, like ours, at 205 had overgrown foliage with NO views. The Edge Apar**ents Cairns has an outdoor entertainment area with barbecue facilities and free on-site private parking. *The Rain forestation Nature Park is 11 miles from The Edge Apar**ents. Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail Rainforest Cableway are only a 10-minute drive away.

We had five family members. We reached Cairns at around 9 am and asked for early check in ! While declined to accet early check in , then asked to keep the luggages / waiting room , but refused as there is no such facilities ! This is not good

The floor of the apar**ent was dusty, the patio doors didnt lock, otherwise quite neat

We booked the 3 bedroom penthouse. It was not as per the photos. Big unit with a nice view but not penthouse quality. The mattresses were awful, no mattress protectors on some beds, thin blankets. Dirty outdoor area, filthy fans, lots of ants and cockroaches. Broken soap dishes, towel rails and toilet roll holder. The garage opener had to be repaired, then replaced and still did not work properly so we resorted to parking on the street. We had an industrial sized no frills shampoo and body wash provided. No individual soap or nice things as per the photos or as you might expect in a penthouse. One towel each and no face washer. The white leather couch was filthy and the outdoor wicker furniture was worn and breaking in places. It was an ok unit but definitely nothing special and nothing like the photos on the official website. I feel it was overpriced for what we got. Finally, there was a lot of aircraft noise in the apar**ent we stayed in. No noise from the backpackers next door.

Unfortunately my last stay at Edge Apar**ents was disappointing! We were there with family from NSW to see my son March for Anzac Day . The apar**ent we got for 4 adults was smelly especially in the second bedroom! Also the outside lighting lit up this room every night which made it hard to get to sleep ! Beds requested wasn’t met ! My husband & I had to sleep in single beds! The furnishing is dated & not modern like I have had before ! Our remote control for the undercover car park never worked & our car had to be parked outside ! I messaged the caretaker but every time I went passed the office it was closed ! I was sent a message by him to say he was in the complex but we were out all day sight seeing ! After the battery was replaced on our last day there the remote still did not work ! Did some washing & the lint compar**ent was full as & looked like it had never been cleaned! The dryer is noisy & I think the drum is scraping the sides . On a positive note the apar**ent is a generous size and was equipped with all the basic necessities ! Sorry My feedback is not the best !
