****BOOK AT YOUR OWN RISK****
Tl;dr - we will NOT stay here again, nor recommend anyone else this Marysol by the beach Haeundae hotel to anyone.
Pro:
- Between Haeundae stn and beach.
- Good Korean fried chicken shop at the main entrance.
Cons:
- Arrived approx 4:00pm (check in is at 3pm) but hotel receptionist told us no rooms available and we would have to wait until cleaning was done. 30 mins later, asking for an update, cleaning was not yet done (or cleaning staff have not yet arrived) asked us to continue to wait. However Korean citizens were easily able to check in and get their room cards without a hitch. No issues or waiting for them. Many foreigners (including ourselves) were left bewildered. Only when we kept asking to find a solution did they decide to give us a twin room (we booked a double) for the first night and told us we could change back to a double the next day. We had sight seeing activities and tram tickets to attend to within the next 40 mins.
The next morning there were still no rooms available so we decided to leave our suitcases with the receptionist because we have our itinerary to follow. Receptionist actually told us a room was going to be available in about 4~6 hours but we wouldn't be waiting or come back for that. We got
When we finally came back at around 8pm (no staff after 10pm according to hotel guidelines) we were again shocked to see no staff available. We had to wait a further 15~20 mins until a staff came out in what looked like to be her pajamas to attend to our room change as per agreed the day before.
Finally we got the actual room we booked, however the cleaning crew left the previous occupants used towel on the room's table. We were hesitant that the cleaning staff actually cleaned the room thoroughly (or changed the bedsheets).
Also in the bathroom, under the sink there is no drain hole, so if you shower and the water leaked out there is no way of removing the flood build up. A very poorly designed bathroom layout.
- Only 2 elevator available to reach rooms which means long waiting time.
- One light switch besides the wall AC control panel to turn off and on all lights on the room, and one for the bathroom. The big light above the room door switch has been disabled and the motion sensor covered by tape and paper.
- One building split into two hotel companies but they both share identical floors. But when asking the other hotel receptionist "where are the staff gone?" We got a cold response "we don't know about that".
