I absolutely LOVED this hotel! It is one of the most unique places I have ever stayed. There is a whole true story about how the hotel got its name. Suffice it to say that an elephant passed through town in the 1500s. The entire hotel is decorated with elephants. We stayed three nights. The staff was terrific and the included breakfast was very good. While my room was a little small, I did love it. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The hotel has a Michelin star restaurant that was absolutely incredible, but I plan to make separate review on that. The location was excellent just a block or two from the main square, a nice grocery store, and lots of ATMs. I would love to come back sometime and stay again. Favorite hotel of this trip so far.

It is a very old hotel that was built in 1490, so expect some eccentricities. Door locks are not electronic, but use a key with a large heavy key fob attached and do not fit in your pocket easily. Room numbers are confusing and rooms are difficult to find. Single rooms are very small. Breakfast buffet is very good with many hot and cold choices. The hotel is walking distance to restaurants and shopping.

One of the loveliest hotels I have ever stayed during my Italian travels. It exceeded all my expectations…beautiful room, fantastic bed, gorgeous antique filled common areas, a gated garden across the street for guests, outstanding personnel. Parking is conveniently located in the back of the building.In addition, dinner at the hotel restaurant was exceptional. Will surely return.

What a treat this hotel was. Wonderful staff, lovely rooms and excellent location. It's right across from a lovely park that the hotel owns and it is so easy to walk everywhere. The breakfast choices were plentiful, and the staff was so accommodating and gracious. The woman who served as the night desk clerk was exceptional. Bressanone is very charming and scenic. I would go back in a minute.

Actually one of the best hotels I have stayed in. Really friendly, helpful and profesional stuff. Rooms are big, clean and with a beautiful garden. The available choices of breakfast could be better, but nothing to complain about.
Highly recomendable stay in a very historic hotel with a incredible story.

A wonderfully welcoming hotel with the most attentive and friendly owners and staff. We stayed in a very comfortable room with balcony overlooking their very large and attractive garden which provided quick and easy access to the swimming pool. Great position on the edge of the old town and an easy walk or bus trip to the station. And the most delicious food which we ate on their glorious terrace in the sunshine. Thoroughly recommended.

The inside is plush and elegant with good sized rooms, very personable staff and a good quality continental breakfast. We slept very well during our 5 night stay. The Brixen Card provided was very useful. Good location. Unfortunately there were irritating features too, such as: *No complimentary water in our room (even 3-star hotels do this), and when we asked and were brought some, we were later charged 4Euros a bottle for it *No bathrobes *No USB ports to charge electronic devices (Travelodges do it!) *No air-con; and our room fan disappeared from our room in the middle of the heatwave (?!) *No welcome pack/information pack/welcome drink//inducement to dine in-house, just a "anything you want to know is on the website." *Our balcony (room 31) was noisy due to an adjacent service air-con outlet *The shower was nice and hot but over a narrow and rather slippery bath with no wall rail at shower height. Something of a safety hazard potentially. This all needs upgrading to a decent wet room. A shame.

Stayed for a week in Bressanone for our annual hiking trip of a dozen mostly 60-70 year olds. Great historic hotel filled with artifacts dating back centuries. Rooms were adequate by European standards; mine was on the generous side including a nice size bathroom, others’s were more cozy. No AC but fans provided. Nice amenities including plates of seasonal fruits from their orchards. There is a sauna and outdoor pool in a lovely garden setting. Food was excellent, 2 restaurants and a Michelin-noted chef. Restaurant service was excellent. Short walk into pedestrian historic town center. Highly recommend.

The restaurants of Hotel Elephant are fantastic, especially the Elephant Restaurant offers spectacular value. The Apostelstube is a starred institution offering modern style refined cuisine. The house is charming and decor historic with baroque and classical art on a museum level. The garden and atmosphere wonderful. The rooms themselves vary greatly - I have seen only a few of the comfort rooms, not the delux ones. Old thick walls can cause draft in the winter. Bed: rather simple, thin mattress and not very comfortable or inviting. The rooms are pleasantly decorated with original paintings. No room fridge or coffee maker. Bathroom has been modernized. The rooms are just for sleeping, and in this hotel the way to go is to spend most of the time either in the restaurants or the nice public spaces. The hotel is more romantic than comfortable, the breakfast pleasant but not spectacular. Staff are all polite, charming and helpful. In the summer the pool is nice. A big modern spa Aquarena 300 meters from the hotel is fantastic, and the historic city center is a few minutes walk. Hotel parking is convenient.
