Booked a PP room, paid for it and then Steph on reception said it wasn’t one & they had none. Then she got very defensive kept saying it wasn’t her fault a trainee member of staff had moved my booking, when I asked some not unreasonable questions said I shouted (I did not) she said no I didn’t but she didn’t like my tone, I think it is because I asked questions as my tone didn’t change and I was holding up the queue. No dedicated desk for working with a desk light, no fridge for my medication, no water for my pills, no iron & ironing board ( she did after I asked bring one up). The room was ok but not suitable for working and had a horrendous smell, not sure what it was as it was immaculately clean. Said she would contact guest services to resolve and then gave me a card as I might think she hadn’t done it with resolve no number & no email to contact! The staff seem very overworked, probably need a bit more training on what to do if something doesn’t work out. Contrast to Middlesbrough Central PI where I followed the parking instructions but got back from work to find a parking ticket. The rec I managed to figure out myself so have complained and have a relevant case number. I stay away on business frequently & use PI - usually a very good service. I have stayed at this one many times & will have to do so again as no other decent hotels centrally (I have tried them all). The guy one reception took the details, my receipt for car parking ticket details and got it cancelled. Very helpful and professional no defensiveness and it’s not my fault someone else did it.
