Pros- great staff- special shout out to Pearla and Cesar in
The premium lounge, Ana in the Italian restaurant
and Linda, Sarahi and Oscar at the Buffet.
- Food overall was very good
- the whole property was kept super clean
- lots of excursions available
- Doctors on site
Cons- the absolute worst thing at this hotel was the lack
Of Internet service.
- proximity to the the city, about an hour by taxi from
the airport and 30 to 40 minutes to downtown.

The view is beautiful. It is quiet, no blasting music. Wonderful rooms. The pool was warm. The only complaint is the food is either cold or only lukewarm.

I had an excellent stay the Barceló. The staff were extremely friendly and the Beach was awesome! The a la carte restaurants were really good and I really enjoyed the location of the resort (more in the jungle). The only downside was that the wifi was extremely slow to non existent. But u wasn’t there to be on the internet so I didn’t really care much.

Location isn’t ideal. Food in buffet is so-so but much better in a la carte restaurants when you can get in. No room service and only two small bars to serve the whole resort.

Beautiful location and great hotel. The service was good and the shows were decent. Our room was excellent with a pool/ocean view and the bed fantastic! The only negative for this review is the food which was sub par, even the a La Carte’s.

The Staff here are wonderful. We always hd great interactions from fort desk, concierge, bell hops, cleaning ladies, bartenders, servers, and chefs. Oscar was a very memorable server during out visits, as were the two Pool Bartenders, Alejandro and Juve(?)
Room was huge and well appointed, washroom was clean and we really liked the large shower. Had a lot of ammenities in the room that are considered VIP at other resorts .
The buffet was always well stocked and the deserts at the restaurants were the star, particularly the Almond Nougat ice cream at the Spanish restaurant.
The pools for us were the highlight as we were purely on a resort relaxation vacation. The resort is a great size, nothing too far away. The ladies serving drinks at the Adult pool were also very attentive. The hot tubs and ambience of the rainforest waterfall centre piece really makes the resort stand out from other busy pool resorts we have been to. There was always enough chairs which was AMAZING to not have to fight for a place to sit at any of the pools.
The view of the beach and the rainforest was top notch, the village and locals were very friendly and its nice the Barcelo is the only resort in the bay.
Resort staff were all very nice and NOT pushy which is a huge plus when it comes to trying to relax.
We don't have kids but were happy for a kids pool, and the kids club looked well taken care of whenever we did see them, which wasn't much.
We really enjoyed ourselves.
