My wife and I just returned from a 10-day whirlwind driving tour of Wales' three national parks (Pembroke Coast, Snowdonia, Brecon Beacons). We spent two nights in Betws-y-Coed at Marian, Pippa, and Martin's lovely B&B, Aberconwy House. Our stay was a perfect mixture of traditional B&B hospitality and comfort and privacy of a stay in a more traditional hotel. We stayed in room five on the top floor, which was perfect for our needs with a nice sitting area with a view of the hills beyond Betws-y-Coed. The room was on smallish side, but actually not an issue beyond the fact that we had an enormous amount of luggage that ended up cluttering our room (in hindsight, we could've left the larger bags in the car). Our cook-to-order breakfast in the morning was very tasty. The intimate breakfast room allowed us to interact with other guests and our hosts. Pippa would also send us off each morning with homemade Welsh cakes and Bara Brith as trail snacks, which I thought was a really nice touch. I think the highlight of the entire stay though, was the hosts and their friendly and inviting approach to their guests. They really made us feel at home. If you show up at Aberconwy House with loose plans on how to spend your time in Snowdonia (or no plan at all), Martin and Pippa are ready to help you with all the information you need to make the most of your day. They both helped us plan our hike of Cwm Idwal on day one and also plan our route to Abergavenny (Brecon Beacons) on day two. We did have a slight issue with spotty Wifi on our second night there, but it was not enough of an issue to even raise it with them. Our hosts were also very clear that te walk to town (across the river) was not a short one (about 20 minutes) due to the foot bridge over the river being closed for renovations. We will look forward to that bridge being open during our next visit. All in all, we can't recommend this B&B enough. If you're looking for a comfortable stay with engaging hosts in the heart of Snowdonia (Betws-y-Coed is a beautiful little town), look no further.
