A friend and I were travelling the An Turas Mor bike route and had the good fortune to come across Cnoc hotel for an overnight stay. Rob hadn’t had the place very long but was so accommodating and friendly to two wet cyclists arriving at his door. Whilst there are things Rob and his family want to change at the place, what they have already completed in the dining room is brilliant. The place has a real ‘country hotel’ feel to it with the downstairs consisting of a lovely and well stocked bar, a very comfortable residents lounge and the newly presented dining room. Our hosts were very engaging and whilst still very early in their ownership, the family has a clear vision on how they are presenting their hotel. We are in the dining room for our evening meal and breakfast but we’re given options to eat in the bar if we’d preferred. Our evening meal consisted of in-house prepared gravlax followed by a nicely presented pork loin with a home made brandy sauce and vegetables.. There are already very nice touches to the food, the home made bread, the hand wrapped butter through to the sensibly priced very drinkable house wine. Our breakfast was superb, finest ingredients of sausages, bacon, haggis, perfectly poached eggs, grilled tomatoes and more of the fabulous home made bread, now toasted. The coffee was good, the fruit juice tasted and all in plentiful supply. We departed with the intention of coming back to another great stay. Nothing appears too much trouble, the staff were friendly and engaging and as their reputation undoubtedly becomes more established in the community, I’d expect the hotel to rightly be increasingly popular. We were lucky to come across the place and would recommend without reservation!
