The Royalton Splash Punta Cana offers an exceptional value for money, providing every amenity I desired. The resort boasts multiple restaurants, room service, multiple pools, on-site beach access, and an on-site water park for our son. The breathtaking beach and delightful pools, many with swim-up bars, were highlights. The all-inclusive package included frozen cocktails, mixed drinks, decent “Presidente” beer, and red or white wines. No one in our party went hungry, and the food was solid but not exceptional. The premium restaurants, priced at $50 extra per person, were a true delight. We thoroughly enjoyed both the hibachi restaurant and the steakhouse. However, the reservation and resort status requirements were the weakest aspects of our trip. The resort offers a Diamond Club that provides a personal concierge for handling reservations. Unfortunately, this feature was sold out by the time we booked, and I suspect it’s especially busy during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Without resort status, we had to rely on the hotel app, which only became active the following day at midnight and, in our experience, was unable to secure a reservation. My workaround was to purchase a bottle of premium wine each night, and the sommelier would assist us in making a reservation instead of the hostess, who simply referred us to the app. Given the short days and the large number of families dining early during this time of year, if you’re a party of four or less and willing to eat after 8:30 p.m., you should have no trouble securing a table. We booked all our excursions through a local service called Nexus Tours. We thoroughly enjoyed para-sailing, a Santo Domingo city tour (12 hours door-to-door, with a long but enjoyable drive), and a sunset cruise at the Marinarium that included snorkeling and a beach party. The staff was incredibly friendly, which was a highlight. They also had evening shows, which we attended. I believe they run these shows regularly. We saw a Madonna tribute, a Christmas show, and a night celebrating the Dominican Republic. The shows were of cruise ship quality, but they were still a lot of fun. We’ll definitely be going back to Punta Cana.
