Apollo Hotel

Our allocated room hadn't been cleaned or prepared by the time we got there, after 5pm. It was full of rubbish, bath dirty bed not changed and a hole in the wall above the bed. They gave us "an upgrade". The upgrade only had curtains on window (ground floor looking into a car park) so for the sake of privacy curtains had to be kept closed. Furniture was stained and dirty (see photos). Curtains and carpet stained. Towels either stained or dirty. Didn't see housekeeping at all the 2 nights we stayed. Good a bit of a joke. 1st night chef wasn't taking orders for 15 mins as he was stressed. 2nd night we had to order in takeaway as chef as stressed. We were given a complimentary breakfast after the room fiasco. So the buffet style breakfast didn't exactly happen as the hot buffet area had blown up when they plugged it in that morning. We got our full English breakfast which was like warm. On a positive note, yes there is one, the bed was actually comfortable, the pillows were very fluffy (too high for me tho) and the reception and bar staff very nice. On the whole, steer clear of this hotel!! I wouldn't stay there again if they paid me!

Will definitely not be back. Unsure as to what makes it a 4 star hotel?! 90% of staff lovely! Outdated , very sad looking from the outside Reception area ok Bar area was lovely in evening nice atmosphere. Standard double room, was ok bust needs some TLC and dusting. Spa facilities poor and gloomy, nothing special and not like photos online. Plus the male staff member monitoring this facility was very unwelcoming and rude. It was meant to be an anniversary trip but husband fell unwell, so I took my sister instead and to be honest I’d of been embarrassed to take him there. Kind regards

It started when we arrived at 1545 15 minutes after are check-in time and was told our room was not ready we had to wait a further 45 mins untill it was I had to ask for a free drink for the wait when explaining that I was not acceptable I was just told yeah it’s not nothing else was offered we eventually got in to the room a hour and half after we were due to check in the room was was a nice room untill I saw the chair that had a blood stain on it disgusting And then we left and checked out at around 945 as we could hear noises from all angles from above the rooms each side screaming children crying children when explain that I wanted to check you we weren’t offered a different room or anything for our troubles just a yeah I understand they got the money from the room ans clearly don’t care about customer service worst stay ever

Vustwd as part of a coach trip. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful. We raised an issue with the window in our room this was delt with an resolved. We were dressing staying here after all the negative reviews. Our room was a studio for four. The cleaning standard definitely needs to improve. This could be a really amazing hotel if money was spent updating and decorating. We had evening meal buffet style. The food wasn't very hot. Breakfast had the usual choice again not very hot they seem to like to put pepper on all the food ( no allergy information staying this) I did raise this was a young man in the dining room he wasn't helpful about the situation.

Bed was comfortable but the rest of the experience was awful. Room was dirty, bathroom full of mould. Food was substandard and expensive. Whole hotel just felt tired and not well maintained. Carpets hadn’t been properly hoovered, crumbs on the bedside table from the previous guest, clearly don’t care about repeat custom. Not worth the money at all, but at least the staff were friendly.

There is an expectation-delivery mismatch at this hotel. It is not 4 stars, and the construction worker vans in the car park tell you what kind of place to expect, ie not 4 stars. If it was rated 2.5 or possibly 3 stars then I don’t think many of the reviews would be so bad. It’s tired, a bit run down and the cleaning team give everything a cursory wipe rather than a deep clean. There was a stick under the sink in our bathroom. There were also only 2 towels for 3 of us and 1 tiny bottle of shampoo for 3. That said, the staff were delightful.
