Gast - Und Kulturhaus der Teufelhof Basel

Stayed one night at Der Teufelhof Basel before embarking on our river cruise to Amsterdam. We arrived around 11 am. With the room unavailable, we left the luggage in the hotel and explored the old town area after getting some tips (including for lunch) from the very friendly and helpful Maurice. We were also given the Basel Card by Maurice that allows free travel on public transport. And half price for entry into various attractions around Basel. How very friendly. Our room (39) is on the topmost floor. After taking the lift to level 3, we had to climb another flight of steps. Good thing the friendly staff was on hand to help. The room is huge. A little basic but no complaints whatsoever ever. There’s a mini-bar and coffee maker that also dispenses hot water. A good size TV and in-room safe. WiFi was more than adequate for our purposes. We were also gifted two books in the room. Breakfast is at the Restaurant Atelier which we also went for dinner. The veal was delicious and highly recommended. Despite having a full house, we had fantastic service. Our server still had time to come top up our water and wine frequently. Not sure if it was a Saturday night but we highly suggest making a reservation early. The old town is within walking distance and walking to the river takes less than 10 minutes especially going downhill. Though we were distracted by the many shops along the way. If we ever return, will definitely stay here again and try out one of the other rooms. While the property is charming, it is the very friendly and helpful staff that impressed us the most. If only all European hotels (especially the English ones) are like this!

Although it was a little far from the station, it was a very convenient location for getting to anywhere in town using the tram. All the staff were friendly and it was clean and nice. The room was spacious and comfortable. I'm getting tired of trying too hard as an artist lol But I would like to use it again

AMAZING is all I can say to describe this property. It offers quaintness while at the same time giving you history and multiple great restaurants. The staff always had a smile and was willing to assist. The location is perfect to walk to everything, yet you truly never need to leave the hotel. We will be back.

This is a true boutique hotel at the former city walls of Basle which can still be seen in the basement (actually a small museum). Very spacious room with stylish furniture. Helpful front desk, excellent restaurant, breakfast recommended as well (friendly service staff will help you with your choice of eggs).

This is a lovely jewel centrally located in Basel's romantic old city. Dont be deterred by the diabolic name - it alludes to the place's medivial history. My room was perfectly comfortable well kept and cosy. with a lot of wooden staicases and hiden pathways I felt as if I was inside a charming cuckoo clock . Helpful service, great breakfast.

I am responsible for bookings for senior staff. The CEO was disappointed by poor standard of customer service. The room was pleasant. The experience was ruined by the unhelpful attitude of the reception & restaurant staff. Won't book here again.

Teufelhof is the best hotel in Basel. Perfectly well located in a quite part of the old city, it in the close vicinity of the main centers of interest. The breakfast is excellent, with a broad choice of bread, müsli, cheese, seasoned meat. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are very comfortable, well equipped with a good bed.

Excellent location for access to Chris**as markets. Steps from #3 tram to barfusserplatz ,then access from there to rest of city - trams run constantly. Our room was in the attic with beautiful huge beams , a largish bathroom and toiletries. Even though we faced the street, it was quiet. Elegant staircase, but no elevator. Not to worry, the extremely helpful front desk will bring them up. There are three restaurants in the hotel but we were unable to get reservations, plan ahead! But within 5-10 minutes there are many more. We recommend Schnabel and Walliser kanne. The desk will make reservations for you but best to do so before you leave home. Loved der Teufelhof - excellent service and relaxing a**osphere.
