Gast - Und Kulturhaus der Teufelhof Basel

My friend Theresa and I spent an entire week at the Hotel Teufelhof. Wait a minute: We obviously left the hotel for excursions so that I could present Theresa with the many objects from my past. She wondered - and later asked me - what had made me such a strange man. Now she has all the answers. Of course, the room Number Seven blew us away, because books, along with dogs and cats, are the best companions in life. Now it is time to leave and appreciate. Besides the love for all the wonderful details in Teufelhof, it is the many good angels who brought us food, drink, and joy. Everyone - really everyone - at Teufelhof exhibited a quality that is rather rare in professional service: passion and kindness. Now we leave Teufelhof with some melancholy, but with extremely many fond memories of a particularly devilishly beautiful hostel in Basel. As a Canadian now, I come to Basel once a year, unless there is a pandemic going on. As a former editor of the Neubadmagazin in Basel and now editor of THE LOFT IN SPACE NEWSPAPER in Newmarket, I want to gather all the information about Teufelhof, the Crooked Theater, and Café zum Teufel, including the Thommy family. The helpful people at the reception were able to fulfill my wishes with three books. A beautiful hotel in old city Basel. Service from ALL employees was very good. In particular, our server Noor was exceptional. Food was excellent, including the breakfast buffet, the restaurant, and the small bar eatery. The rooms are individually designed and unique experiences. There is a theatre on site where we were able to have a small private concert with the incredible band, Little Chevy. The only downside - if you are a spoiled North American like myself – is the lack of air-conditioning in this heat. But fans were provided and brought to our room. Definitely worth the experience!

Stayed one night at Der Teufelhof Basel before embarking on our river cruise to Amsterdam. We arrived around 11 am. With the room unavailable, we left the luggage in the hotel and explored the old town area after getting some tips (including for lunch) from the very friendly and helpful Maurice. We were also given the Basel Card by Maurice that allows free travel on public transport. And half price for entry into various attractions around Basel. How very friendly. Our room (39) is on the topmost floor. After taking the lift to level 3, we had to climb another flight of steps. Good thing the friendly staff was on hand to help. The room is huge. A little basic but no complaints whatsoever ever. There’s a mini-bar and coffee maker that also dispenses hot water. A good size TV and in-room safe. WiFi was more than adequate for our purposes. We were also gifted two books in the room. Breakfast is at the Restaurant Atelier which we also went for dinner. The veal was delicious and highly recommended. Despite having a full house, we had fantastic service. Our server still had time to come top up our water and wine frequently. Not sure if it was a Saturday night but we highly suggest making a reservation early. The old town is within walking distance and walking to the river takes less than 10 minutes especially going downhill. Though we were distracted by the many shops along the way. If we ever return, will definitely stay here again and try out one of the other rooms. While the property is charming, it is the very friendly and helpful staff that impressed us the most. If only all European hotels (especially the English ones) are like this!

À charming hotel in the heart of the city. Welcoming staff, artistic design of some of the roofs. Excellent breakfast. The story of the hotel is amazing and make you wish to learn more. Wine cellar on the spot, possibility of private dining. Reasonable price.

Although it was a little far from the station, it was a very convenient location for getting to anywhere in town using the tram. All the staff were friendly and it was clean and nice. The room was spacious and comfortable. I'm getting tired of trying too hard as an artist lol But I would like to use it again

AMAZING is all I can say to describe this property. It offers quaintness while at the same time giving you history and multiple great restaurants. The staff always had a smile and was willing to assist. The location is perfect to walk to everything, yet you truly never need to leave the hotel. We will be back.

This is a true boutique hotel at the former city walls of Basle which can still be seen in the basement (actually a small museum). Very spacious room with stylish furniture. Helpful front desk, excellent restaurant, breakfast recommended as well (friendly service staff will help you with your choice of eggs).

This is a lovely jewel centrally located in Basel's romantic old city. Dont be deterred by the diabolic name - it alludes to the place's medivial history. My room was perfectly comfortable well kept and cosy. with a lot of wooden staicases and hiden pathways I felt as if I was inside a charming cuckoo clock . Helpful service, great breakfast.
