Toyabali Resort, Dive & Relax

Absolutely beautiful, peaceful, relaxing, and wonderful service! Perfect couples retreat away from tourist, traffic, and noise. Lovely restaurant on site with very good food. The staff is friendly and attentive and everything was just perfect. The flower bath was so beautiful! We’ll be back for sure!

Could not recommend this place any more highly. Made and her lovely staff were so welcoming and friendly. The food was to die for and nothing too much trouble. The room was amazing and private with beautiful fresh flowers everyday. The location and proximity to snorkeling and diving was just perfect. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a stay, we will definitely be back.

Hard to reach (no road leading up to the property) - bit rough around the edges

We chose this resort because my husband is a diver and I wanted a place to meditate and read a book following a work event. We stayed for four nights. Unless you are a keen diver or want to learn, this location may not be for you. The area is very quiet, with only a couple of small grocery shops and restaurants. Besides this it is mostly dive shops and dive hotels. It is off the beaten track, so some interesting roads to navigate, but once you get there you will find beautiful ocean views and tranquility. There is no A** locally so unless you have transport you may need to take cash with you. Most places including dive shops accept cards with a 3% charge. The Toyabali is a lovely resort of only a few bungalows, each one well secluded by clever landscaping. If you have a lot of luggage the staff are quick to help bring it to the resort, which is helpful as there is a walk to reception and it is not easy to wheel a case. When we arrived we sat in the bar for a drink and the owner (a lovely lady) asked if we wanted to dive. My husband told her he would be diving. Within thirty minutes we were joined by the owner of a local dive shop and my husband had arranged his first dive, all while drinking a beer, great service. My husband continued to use this shop during our stay and liked the service and dives. The food was good with enough choice for vegetarians. I had a tofu curry one night and the spring rolls were lovely. My husband recommends the satay chicken. The bungalows are great, well equipped and spacious, especially the outdoor shower area which was amazing. The service was excellent. At breakfast we were asked for our key so that the room could be cleaned. By the time breakfast was over, the room had been cleaned. It is a well oiled machine, and all of the staff were friendly and welcoming. We arranged a driver through the resort to take us to our next destination Ubud. It was a 2.5 hour journey at a very reasonable cost of 600,000 (USD 40.00).

When our driver pulled to the end of a long dirt road and there was nothing there we were kind of worried at the beginning. We had to follow a path along the ocean to get to the resort. But, once we arrived, it has been absolutely amazing! The staff are truly genuine and caring. The bungalows are cute and the outdoor bathroom facilities are unique. The food is made to order so a little bit slow but absolutely delicious. Hanging by the infinity pool was lovely also. We went to do a dive right down the beach and seeing the coral and the shipwreck was worth any hassle it took to get there. This is not the Ritz, but so authentic and worth the visit! (Plus the price tag was better than the Ritz. 😉) Plus, if you wake up in time, the sunrises are stunning and the sun comes up directly in front of the resort. A couple of caveats...the mattresses are horribly hard and uncomfortable (unless you prefer super firm) and there are several annoyingly loud cats that wander around and beg when you get chicken for dinner. Several dogs too but they're totally chill.

Lovely quiet hotel. Room was beautiful, and the food is wonderful. Very fresh and handmade daily. The spring rolls were a special treat! Snorkeling right outside the hotel is also very nice. You can fairly easily snorkel over to the Liberty wreck if you wish. 2 things to know: if you have any kind of mobility issues, this is not a good hotel for you as the drop off is a bit of a walk over uneven ground to get to the actual resort, and if you have large or heavy luggage it can be a bit tricky to get it to the resort although they are happy to help you with it. We had a wonderful time, and would definitely stay here again if we go back to Tulamben.

We stayed as a couple for two nights to enjoy some diving, and from airport pick-up to drop off in Bali, our experience was seamless. Reservation was easy, our driver was waiting ahead of time for us; we had a lovely special surprise for us in our villa for our anniversary which was a beautiful touch. Everything was perfectly clean and well maintained, the fresh flowers everywhere were a lovely touch, and the food/drinks were well prepared and well priced. We had easy access to the recommended dive centre. We had no qualms with the cool water in the bath tub -the outdoor bathroom was incredible! So very happy with our choice to stay here. Thank you to the whole Toyabali team for such a lovely stay.

If you are looking for an absolutely relaxing stay, pampered with freshly prepared meals, an attentive staff, immaculate grounds, ocean vistas at all around, and magical snorkeling and diving steps from the beach in front of you this is the place. Yes, the road in is a little confusing, but once you arrive you are in an enchanted landscape. The cabins are gorgeous. Ibu Made and her team take care of everything. I will definitely come back again.

We loved Toyabali. It was so tranquil and relaxing. If you are a party person it's not for you but if you're looking for peace and relaxation it certainly is. The host Ibu Made organised a day tour for us and came along as our guide, she also taxied us to Jemeluk( Amed) for excellent snorkeling. The US Liberty shipwreck is literally just off the beach and is a diving/snorkeling destination. We snorkeled it 3 times but the weather was a bit windy while we were there making access to the sea a bit difficult. The beach is black volcanic pebbles too. I'd recommend diving boots and strap on fins to make access/egress easier. Breakfast is provided, fresh fruit plate, various egg choices or noodles, fresh fruit juices/lassi, coffee, tea. We also ate there most evenings and enjoyed the food. The rooms are beautiful bungalows with lots of space and gardens between them making it feel very private. Two of them have partial sea views. They have an enormous outside bathroom, ours had a huge granite spa bath too. If there's a downside it's that there isn't much around in Tulumben, a few bars, hotel restaurants. Most of the hotels specialise in diving. Tulumben is also a longish drive from anywhere ( 3 winding hours from the airport). Please be aware that (post covid lockdown)local businesses don't take international credit cards and A** are few and again don't always take international cards. We got in late and had no cash but Ibu Made subbed us until we could find an A**, so kind.
