The Layar - Designer Villas and Spa

The booking services are terrible. I had to chase several times to get them to respond and finalise my booking. My situation changed due to the ill health of my travel companion. Trying to cancel the booking took three days of correspondence Finally, I had to use the online chat support to push the IRA to respond; even after that, when the IRA replied by email, I had to go back to online support to get them to push the IRA to respond to my answer. After hours of frustration trying to resolve the matter, I cancelled my booking based on this experience alone.

My wife and I stayed -from mid-January 2024 for more than a month- in the beautiful 2br villa 15 of The Layar. In addition to a very nice garden and a lovely swimming pool, it was a pleasure to be in a such a beautiful 'architectural' villa: it is very tastefully decorated and everywhere in and around the house: excellent wifi! The inside bedrooms were equipped with good air conditioners and the outside room and mezzanine have plenty of excellent ceiling fans. And we loved the outside shower! The great and very friendly staff -housekeeping, gardeners, pool maintenance etc.- made sure everything stayed clean and tidy. In summary: this villa was perfect to stay in. I have been trying to book a Layar villa for days, the staff had assured me I can complete the payment via American Express only to discover that is impossible. A Now they are taking me in circles with false explanations and no reach out, sending emails with the same information over and over and no real help at all. This is incredible for Balinese hospitality, I had stayed at the villa in 2015 and everything was impeccable. There better be some serous discounting at the end of this affair, if I end up staying there after all the hassle!

Amazing chilling vibes, beautiful area, gentle and caring staff, especially manager Bruce. Everything what I needed they organized. I would like to come back soon. Also good restaurant with Italian food and good options for breakfast

The villa is wonderful and has a wonderful design. I did not like the open bathroom and we asked to change the villa to a closed bathroom. Some people may like it. The breakfast is good but limited. The bed is not comfortable in proportion to a five-star rating. In general, the place is wonderful and it is possible for me to visit again.

The Layar made our stay in Bali an absolute dream! The staff were incredibly kind and friendly, attentive to all our needs, and made our whole experience wonderful. The food at the restaurant is absolutely amazing. The whole place is neat, clean, and very well kept. It's centrally located to many sites, and has everything needed within walking distance. I would highly recommend this villa to anyone wanting to experience a piece of paradise!

Group of twenty - we were all treating great - the villas are beautiful - staff is great. Will definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone visiting that part of Bali. The breakfast was great and the location made it easy to get to area attractions.

I have stayed in many hotels and other villas and would highly recommend The Layar Villas. The whatsapp service was amazing - the staff are so professional and attentive to every need you have. Fantastic position near Seminyak - walking distance to the main shopping road and restaurants. On site 24/7 security with nightly patrol so we always felt safe and if you are single or a couple of girlfriends it was great to know that security was at the front. Twice daily housekeeping service for morning room clean and evening turn down and they would always knock first and you can request what time when the delivered your breakfast. We always ordered our breakfasts off the menu in the morning and just rang through our order. They would come and set everything up on the dining table and make you free coffees (which were amazing) in your villa. The staff who came were always very professional, friendly and super efficient - an absolute pleasure to deal with. We ordered in a few times for dinner and that food came from the italian restuarant within the villas. I do have to say the food was okay, nothing to gush about but always fresh and edible. We did order in from outside a few times and that was easy. They are next door to a very cheap laundry service, bluebird taxis or gojeks were super easy to arrange from out the front. The villa itself is stunning - the whole outdoor/indoor living space by the pool was gorgeous with a breeze going through all day. The pool was cool but as it had sun on it most of the day it was refreshing. The housekeeping team were incredible - they would do the entire villa in less than 20 minutes and had a team of indoor and outdoor staff - they cleaned the pool and the grass area every day as well. Well done to them all! For anyone wanting 5 star service like a resort or hotel but have a huge one bedroom villa with private pool this is the place to stay. It was great value for money and we ended up extending from 3 nights to 6 nights. ** On a side note, I got terriblly sick one of the nights with a blinding mirgraine and vomiting. We used d'Square Medical Seminyak which is a 5 min walk away. You can whastapp them and I had a doctor and nurse arrive within 40 minutes. They were amazing and I ended up being given 2 drips with various medications (whilst I was on the toilet floor because I couldn't move) to stop the migraine and vomiting and they stayed until all my vitals were okay and I could go to sleep. They arrived at 3am and stayed until 6am. I couldn't believe what they had with them and they both came on the back of one motorbike. Super professional and I felt so much more at ease with being sick in Bali than I ever have. I had a follow up with the clinic in the morning and the Dr there was just as professional and helpful. I felt in very good hands.

Villas are at least 10++ years old and poor maintained. Spider webs everywhere and found a big one in our room. Showers are mostly outdoors and the wood on the floors are falling apart. Service staff are extremely slow which might be because they are short handed. Toilet bowl requires you to press for 5-6 seconds to flush. One of the rooms toilet bowl broke down two days in a row. There’s a lack of Aircon in the living room which causes you to run into the Aircon rooms instead of lounging with your family in the living area. WiFi is barely working and the room TV’s are just for show, not working. You’re better off picking a better maintained villa somewhere else. Location deserves a point but nothing more than that.
